They can't digest that they have only a quarter of the history of Italian football, even if we count Marseille's Champions League 'win'.

I actually agree with the abuse Domenech is getting, however you do come across very arrogant at times Forza.

I back up Forza in being arrogant here. Domenech is slating Italy, and any Italy fan should be able to use arrogance to make him look like an idiot (although I think most know he's an idiot)

Domenech is a twat, hopefully Italy will give the frogs a good thrashing next month. If he really thought that under 21 game was fixed he wouldn't have waited 8 years to complain about it.

    Domenech given one-match ban
    Monday 27 August 2007

France coach Raymond Domenech has been suspended for one match after being found in breach of UEFA's disciplinary regulations.

    Fine and ban
Domenech has been handed one touchline ban for his side's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier against Italy on 8 September as well as being fined CHF10,000 (€6,000) for bringing football into disrepute. Domenech has three days to appeal the UEFA Control and Disciplinary board decision which comes following inappropriate remarks made in an interview to the French newspaper Le Parisien.

Stupid Domenech. He seemed to be coming to his senses at last in dropping Govou and Wiltord, then comes out with this which was sure to get him a ban.

We'll still win though. Italy for all their "fabulous" recent history (beating us after getting totally dominated, and when not able to cope with talent, relying on dirty thugs like Cannavaro to injure our best players), got beaten 3-1 at the SdeF, and if by a miracle Italy do win, we'll still qualify.

With Donadoni in charge...it wouldn't surprise me. But I'm sure even he'll get the team motivated in this match. Especially after the 3-1 win in France. If the players cannot win this one not only for the need of 3 points...but for the fans. Donadoni needs to f@ck off

Post by bluenine Mon Aug 27, 2007 8:16 pm

Considering the problems he has faced, Donadoni hasn't done too bad a job... even going into this game, most of his stars have only just started their season and are not totally match fit... add to that the premature retirement of his biggest stars - Totti & Nesta... and then the injuries, Materazzi, Cannavaro, & Toni. Thats the reason I am not too confident of the win, if these 5 guys were available, I would have expected at least 4 points out of the 2 games (France & Ukraine).

But 3 points will do as it stands, and hopefully those points will come from the France game... anything less than 3 points will be a huge setback for qualification.

The biggest worry is the central defence, of course, with Nesta, Cannavaro and Materazzi unavailable. These are not the right games to blood youngsters, Barzagli can cover for one of these guys as long as he partners with someone better than him... I really doubt Barzagli's talent if he is the senior partner in the defence!! Perhaps it won't be a bad idea to get some Fiorentina defenders, maybe even Dainelli... Italy need that experience at back, and the problem is that the experienced Serie A defenders like Dainelli & Terlizzi have only played 2 times for Italy altogether!! It will be very interesting what Donadoni does, most likely he will go with Barzagli+Terlizzi, a partnership which really worries me coz both of them are similar.

I am worried. Italy NEED to beat France to take the pressure off.

Italy's win in the WC2006 final was as deserved as France's win in Euro2000. These things happen in football.

Italy deserved to win WC2002 coz of the way they played in the semis against Germany, which was IMO the best performance of the championship.

Well I think the best performance was us against Brazil to be fair. We'l have to agree to disagree on that.

The final pissed me off - Cannavaro takes down Henry in the first minute of the game, then puts Zidane shoulder out of joint. Zambrotta, already on a yellow chops down Malouda in the box and gets nothing. Materazzi, supposed hardman, falls as though he's been shot from a little headbutt. But Malouda did dive for the first penalty so that evens it slightly.

As for the Euro 2000 win, had Italy won after the Italy-Holland game, it would have been slightly comical.

That's not what I'm suggesting. What I'm suggesting is that doing Nike adverts after the incident where you take a Land Rover in the chest and stay up are entirely displaced when you roll about on the floor crying from a headbutt.

So your problem is with Nike advertising strategy, not with Materazzi falling down from the headbutt?? scratch

You know, there was a time in the 80s when I had just started watching football when France was my favourite team... mostly coz of Platini and Euro84. Then I became a Serie A fan, and started supporting Inter, so Italy naturally became my fav national team.... but france remained as my second team, even as late as 1998, when I wanted them to win after Italy went out... It was after all Djorkaeff's team!! Its surprising how so much has changed, people like Domenech have made me dislike the France national football team... after his comments, I am actually hopin that Domenech's France don't even qualify!

I don't dislike Italy out of principle. I dislike the football team and what it represents -And I also think that we deserved to win the final, and it has kind of stuck in my throat. Call me bitter all you like.

French people are among the most tolerant on earth. We are so egocentric, nobody else matters to us.

Laughing At that time, Inter had more Italians... and germans - I was so looking forward for an Italy-Germany final in 1990, and was pissed that Argentina fucked up that dream final!! Infact, the Holland-Germany game in 1990 was treated like a Milan derby for obvious reasons Wink

Yeah, now my second team in Argentina ok

It really was like a Milan derby, I clearly remember the fuss that match caused in Italy as well. Of course, the light side prevailed. Wink

Best individual performance of Klinsmann in his career.
