Which? The direct play or the England team thing? The former just an observation. We play direct and rely on fast counter-attacks + set-pieces (less so this season with the set-pieces). The England thing...not saying it's necessarily better to have lots of English players - but having lots of English players who get in/around the national team is surely a good thing for a club?

Yeah it's says a lot if a lot of your players play for a national team. But theres been alot of sub par players that have played for England.

I wish we could say that the majority of the Spanish team came from Real Madrid....as opposed to the majority of the Dutch team, as it stands now.

Yeah. Injured at the mo, unfortunately. I think Davies has been more under-rated. Laursen gets most of the plaudits, but Davies is a good foil for him - is almost as good in the air, but crucially has the edge in pace. Still prone to the occasional error, but is developing into a really good centre back.

Cuellar's yet to really settle, but he hasn't had a proper run at CB (due to form of Laursen/Davies). Might have a chance with Laursen out.

Just in case you wanted a full update on the world of Villa centre backs Smile

I've watched quite a few Villa game this season, because of the Sky coverage. They've looked good for most of the part, but the Hull game put me to sleep...literally.

If Agbonlahor got injured who would come in for him, i.e. do you have another pacy striker or is that meant to be harewood?

Or push Young up. Or Harewood.

But yes, we don't have great cover for Agbonlahor. I wouldn't mind if we let Harewood go and brought in a youngish striker to compete/cover. Rumours linking us with Sturridge of City, for example, could be nice.

Am trying to put together my UEFA Cup FF team. What do you expect about tonight? My first thought is that you've to play Chelsea Saturday. Petrov said EPL [obviously] is most important; O'Neill talks about a clean sheet. Will you play your best team? What kind of line-up do you expect?

Is Carew fully fit debaser? Has MON gone off of him after the stripper incident? Seems like you best forward.

Looked at some Villa forums and it seems as if they arent happy with Agbonlahors current performances. And see Young is getting some stick too.

Petrov is doing well. Not as influential as he was in the SPL but thats obviously down to the difference in quality between the leagues.

Looks like the uefa cup bruhaha has backfired on MON. He shouldnt have played a weakened squad against CSKA. Understand his reasoning but imo UEFA cup victory is more important than 4th place.

Not sure you guys will get the 4th place now. Want you to but fancy Arsenal (Everton?) to clinch it at the death.

Has MONs infamous reluctance to spend money (january transfer window) cost Villa? Guess it remains to be seen but kinda looking that way just now...

    Thanks

Gabby will have to get used to being a marked man, which probably explains his loss of form, to be a consistent top team you can't rely on just one player to be a consistent creative threat as they have done with A.Young. Milner is too hit and miss for me. Also teams genuinely fear them now so are paying Villa respect, taking away their counter-attacking game.

MON, like Rafa overachieved in the 1st half/60% of the season and is paying for it now. All these problems are further exacerbated by the small squad, Arsenal still have plenty of flaws but they do have much better strength in depth. Villa looked so weary against City, all the players moved liked they had dumbbells attached to their ankles, that you can't help but fear that Wednesday's performance wasn't a one-off Crying or Very sad

Good points there. They do look like they are tiring. The small squad will probably be addressed in summer. MON seems to like UK based players so wonder which ones he'll feel are attainable and can strengthen the squad?
