Re the whole Lahm at right- or left-back thing – I know the "correct" answer has to be that right-back is his best position because he is right-footed and can cross from deep, but it always was a nice aspect to his game on the left that he had this tendency to cut in and unleash shots/crosses from there, even a weapon – look at his opening goal in the World Cup, or maybe his pinpoint cross for Ballack's header, the second goal in the away qualifier to Slovakia:

Just that there's more than one way to play the game and that it doesn't have to always be about crosses from the byline, even if that is normally the most effective/percentage way to play. Until very recently Arsenal were renowned for hardly ever crossing the ball, but playing more diagonally into the box doesn't have to be an inferior way of playing, it can indeed be more beautiful; it's just that we weren't able to execute it properly at the time!

Lahm. Great player, and however much Alves impresses me, Lahm is a better defender. Would love to see him at Barça some day.
