Luis wrote:I think this City side has transformed completely under Sven, I didn't expect it to either, I thought there would be too many new players and they would find it hard to adapt, not only are they looking good on the pitch but they look to have a great team spirit as well, something they might of lacked last season with a bit of trouble from Joey Barton etc.

They have real quality now and a lot of strength throughout the team, they haven't conceded a goal yet so that's always a good sign.

United on the other hand have a had a massively dissapointing start, a lot of people thought they were going to be even better than last year but it doesn't always work like that, they've been git with a few injuries but for me they just don't seem to have that little edge they had last year where they could cut open a team at any minute, now they're getting crowded out, they're being battled with and it seems people know how to prevent United from really performing so far.

I think the big thing for City is that they are at home on sunday, a place that wasn't very lively last season but now with the new confidence of the team, the fans will be excited and will genuinely believe they can beat United and add to their misery.

I think without Rooney and Ronaldo it will be extremely tough for United, they are key players for them and they'll be relying on the new boy Tevez, I think the game will be a fast one with City trying to close down United at every oppurtunity, I'm going for a draw on this one.

The only problem i see is the forward attack line with Tevez , Nani Giggs (if this is the line which i expect) Nani is new to the League and many thought he be a impact player coming of the bench etc , but with the Ronaldo suspension Rooney injury he will be a regular for the next 3 games guaranteed , shown promise for sure. Tevez has Premiership experience which is good and a 'like for like' Rooney replacement as many say and is used to BIG derbies see Boca v River Plate & Corinthians v Sao Paulo .. but he is lacking match fitness , but against Pompey he can finish 90 minutes , just hope he can be effective like he was for West Ham in the 2nd half of last season. With Giggs out of the 6 midfield/attack players against Pompey .. he had the least successful 'completion pass rate' and him not being the 'speedy winger' he was , with his central role .. will Tevez be drifting to the left ... No Hargreaves , maybe Fletcher or O'Shea* in midfield with Scholes + Carrick , expect the same back 4.

    Probable team:

    ...................... vDS
    ........ Brown - Rio - Vidic - Evra
    ............. Fletcher* - Carrick
    ................... Scholes
    ........... Nani - Giggs - Tevez

Luis if you actually watched the matches, you would realise that we have been playing well and creating lots of chances. Just that players who were scoring these chances last season, arent putting them away.

'Citeh' beat West Ham (who were terrible) and a then a team who will be relegated 1-0 at home. Its not like they beat Chelsea and Arsenal convincingley. The team looks a million times better than it did, but they have played 2 games against weak opposition, so its a bit early to be eulogising them.

When we have a few setbacks and look most vulnerable; thats when united are the most dangerous, in fact I cant remember the last time we went 3 games without a win. I am confident that we will win, even without the two Ronnies.

@ Rez, it doesn't matter if you're playing well or not, you can't argue it's been a dissapointing start for United, Pompey and Reading are two very good sides defensively but before the season you would of expected 6 points from those 2 games

    Anyone's heard Ferguson lately? Biggrin

I never thought I'd see the day when Ferguson was reduced to "mind games" against teams outside the "big four" in the EPL.

Mind games and making sure your own pitch's turned into a potato field are shall we say understandable when you're up against teams the caliber of Barcelona, like Mourinho has done several times in the past.

However, Ferguson resorting to this against CITEH! lol!

If you're scoring at home, points for Sven before kickoffs already. Sven's all cool about it so far. Ferguson's feeling the heat already so he's got to do whatever he can, EVEN if he's up against a "little" club, derby or not Citeh is still Citeh? Perhaps not with Sven? Biggrin <Ale>

    ok

He has just scored a very good goal. A counterattack, breaking from inside his own half, he outpaced the defence and then showed great composure to round the keeper and score.

It's surprising, but Bolton look a bit lightweight this season. They don't harass and intimidate teams like they did under Allardyce. I think Lee is trying to play more expansive football, but aside from the forwards in the team (particularly Diouf and Anelka) they don't really have the players to suit this football. They are playing a higher line than they would have under Allardyce and it is causing them problems with Portsmouth's pace up front.

Sammy Lee will be the first manager to get the sack I personally think.

I was saying to FF in the summer that they'd be $h!t this season - he insisted they'd still be a top ten club but so far they look a completely inferior team to last season and as I predicted, Sammy Lee looks a completely incapable manager.
