I have a certain feeling Mad Jens won´t make it to Euro 2008. With regard to Wiese, maybe someone could teach him first how to treat that round thing which footballers call a football...blutgraetsche wrote:Wiese, you traitor!
If Lehmann makes it to Euro 2008 (very likely), I want Wiese and Enke being the backups in the squad. Hilde probably won't get much playing time in Valencia.
Wiese for Nationalmannschaft!

With a mistake like that you can usually give the benefit of the doubt. But with two big mistakes in the space of seven days you have to question the ability of the player. Hopefully Jens is experienced enough to bounce back from this.

Oh dear, poor Jens.Sheffield gunner wrote:chrissicross wrote:Oh, yet another blunder by Lehmann?
Maybe it´s time for Robert Enke.
Yep, another mistake. Here it is if anyone hasn't seen it yet. Coming after his mistake against Fulham this is a bit worrying.

You are so anti-Wiese it's not funny. How often has he saved our arse chrissi, how often? The only consistent performer of our club in 2007. Period.
Wiese is considerably younger than Enke, he can still improve in the areas he lacks most. He has already improved as far as keeping his box clean on corners / set pieces is concerned. He now has a pretty good timing when it comes to crosses, catching quite a few. He by no means is a line hogger anymore, he is brilliant in 1 on 1 situations, running towards the opposition player, preventing him from scoring.
The criticism he gets is very unfair often. One of the most consistent goal keepers in the league (which really means a lot, considering the first class competition), and one of the most experienced on the highest level (-> CL), despite his young age.
It's a travesty that he hasn't been called up for die Mannschaft yet.

I know how often he has saved our arse, blut. And I'm not anti Wiese at all, but in my opinion Robert Enke is still the better, more complete goalie. I'm a big fan of him as a goalie and even more as a person in general.blutgraetsche wrote:You are so anti-Wiese it's not funny. How often has he saved our arse chrissi, how often? Re: Bundesliga 2007 / 2008, 2. Spieltag
I have nothing against Enke whatsoever, and really wouldn't mind him as the 1st goal keeper of the Mannschaft either. However, it's a simple fact that Enke plays for Hannover, a club that does not play in Europe, and probably won't play there in future. Wiese however has a lot of CL experience already, despite his young age, and he is used to play for an attacking team (which unfortunately often has a very leaky defence), unlike Enke.
This is a very important factor that should not be underestimated. For this reason, unless Enke moves to a bigger club, I expect Neuer (and Adler, probably Rensing later) to be Wiese's main competition in future. Hilde only if he manages to become a starter in Valencia.

Just watched the HSV highlights. The dutch commentators went banana's over vdVaart, said he really was MOTM. Hehe.
After that he really gave a good interview after the match, although he said posing with the Valencia shirt was 'part of the game between me and the club', which is clearly bollocks.
