They actually have to win the UEFA Cup to strenghten their position in the UEFA rankings. It's a good 'warming up' for next years CL also, which they most probably are going to play.
So Lederhosen, not just for the sake of the Bundesliga, but in your own interest, take the UEFA Cup seriously and do well.

Don't think so. But Bayern's goal has to be reclaim a spot in pot 1, which they lost just recently. For that to happen, a successful UEFA Cup campaign would be really helpful, since it's much easier to collect points there than in the CL, the competition Bayern usually play. They have to use this chance.
