Anderson looked excellent last night, he plays like a 30year old. Would like to see him get at players more in the final third, but his vision, passing range, technique and pace is top draw.

Fancy a swop Anderson for Sissoko Wink

Poor poor Sporting, on the day that 1 goes in, its in the final minute against his old club!

Sporting Lisbon are a good team. I fully expect them to do well in the UEFA cup, and hope that Spurs get the opportunity to play them, as I think it would make for a great game of football.

Don't I know it! I was convincing myself it would either hit the wall as usual, or he'd sky it... nope.. of course not.

Hopefully Sporting can get their act together and put in a good performance in the Uefa cup; I don't think it's above them but they'll need to want to play... showing up won't be enough. With a few high priced/quality teams in the Uefa cup, winning it would be a good achievement... especially for a club that hasn't won anything in Europe for a very very long time.

Hopefully not from the start, I still want to enjoy part of the game. pale

    I'd go -

    ------------------- Kuzy

    Simpson -- Pique -- Rio/Vidic -- O'Shea

    Ronaldo --- Fletcher -- Carrick -- Nani

    ------------ Saha ---- Rooney

Then bring off Ronaldo for Eagles and Rooney for Tevez on the hour mark.

Maybe give Dong ten minutes at the end in place of Saha.

Roma have qualified and can't do more than that, why do we imagine they won't put out a reserve side as well?

    Kuzy

    Simpson Pique Evans O'shea

    Eagles Fletcher ? Nani

    Rooney Saha

Can't decide who to partner Fletcher, If Carrick was a sub on Saturday then i'd play him but he wasn't. I want him to play againt pool so I don't know if 3 starts in 8 days will do. Hargreaves and Fletcher is a not ideal plus do we want to risk Hargreaves for pool? Also do we want to risk Anderson as well.

They will do, however I think they have much more of an incentive to beat us, they are at home for starters.

Not sure about Eagles starting in a game like this, wouldn't be suprised if he shits himself like in some other games.

    ---------------Curci

    ---------Pizzaro - Brighi
    Guily ------ Perrotta ------- Esposito
    --------------Vucinic

I expect Doni, Juan, Panucci, Tonetto, De Rossi, Taddei, Mancini, & Totti to be rested. Aquilani is injured.

"There's no doubt we'll take some young kids," the manager told
Manchester United Radio. "We've won the group and Roma are guaranteed
second place, so there's no issue with us potentially affecting the
    outcome of the group.

"We wanted to give the young boys experience playing in the Carling Cup
but they let themselves down against Coventry. Now there's a chance for
the likes of Jonny Evans, Gerard Pique, Danny Simpson and Chris Eagles to elevate themselves. We know all about their ability but this is an opportunity for them to prove themselves.

"They won't be on their own, though. They'll have back-up from players like John O'Shea, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Louis Saha, Nani and Anderson. Cristiano Ronaldo might possibly be involved as well.

"We're not in the habit of sending teams out to lose. We'll be sending out a time that we think is good enough to win."

    Wayne Rooney
will captain Manchester United in their Champions League clash with
Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is committed to playing most of
his fringe players in the Group F dead rubber, with many of his senior
    stars remaining in Manchester.
Along with Wes Brown and Michael Carrick, Rooney was the only
member of the Red Devils' starting line-up from Saturday's victory over
Derby to make the flight to Italy, with Ferguson confirming the
22-year-old will wear the captain's armband.
"He has been pestering me for quite a while now, so I have given in," said Ferguson.
Rooney has done the job once before - in last season's European
victory over FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford - and the fact he has got
the job ahead of John O'Shea, who skippered United in their Carling Cup
defeat to Coventry earlier this season, indicates Ferguson does see
    Rooney as future captaincy material.
The England international will need to be at his very best if
he is to guide United to victory given the lack of experience within
    the travelling squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Carlos Tevez, Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand were among the major names to sit out the trip.
Danny Simpson, Jonny Evans, Nani, Darren Fletcher and Louis Saha
do have first team experience. However there are five completely
unexposed youngsters in the 20-man party, including reserve team top
scorer Febian Brandy and last season's youth team captain Sam Hewson.

Apparently Cassetti and Perrotta are ruled out with injuries.

The rumour is that Totti (just returned from injury) might start as this game may help him to return to match fitness.

Playing the strongest team we can...we are at home and we do have to save face....the best we can.

Being in such a bad run of form, this match is just another of the 'must win' matches we've had as of late. We need the cash and the simple fact that we don't want to finish with only 4 pts... it's all the incentive you need really.

I'm not expecting a big crowd though - the secured UC place has taken all interest out of the match really.. the cash and the 3 (meaningless) points are just kinda there to be taken.

If they don't win I'll expect serious trouble with the fans.

    Esposito --- Taddei -------Giuly
    ----------------Totti

Its a decent line-up. I hope ManU start some of their stars (Rooney, Nani, Saha, etc), coz from the looks of it, Roma mean business.
