    Newcastle Utd fans,

You guys are gonna love this kid... he is a joy to watch, simply spectacular... Oba has always been a HUGE crowd favourite, and this is the second time this decade that I am sad to see a player leave Inter (after Pirlo).... Oba is our youth product, take care of the kid!

And wait till you see his first goal celebration.... I still remember the first time I saw his goal celebration 3 years ago... 7 somersaults!!

Oba Oba Oba Oba Oba Oba Oba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats the chant!

Best of luck to Oba, and to you guys....

I'm definitely pleased, I think he'll do well partnering Ameobi until Owen returns. But after that, it'll be interesting to see Roeder's selections.

If Oba improves his finishing - he's a much better all round bet than Owen is.

Owen will be gone before he's 30, of that I'm certain. Real Madrid have got revenge (and much worse all things considered) for the Woodgate deal. I'll be shocked if Owen manages another 30 competitive games. I mean it.

    @Obispo - it'll be a great shame if it's true.

3 years ago I would have laid serious money on Owen breaking the Charlton/Lineker scoring record for England.

I think he'll fit in well with Milner, Z0G, and Duff - those 2 create so many chances it's unreal, he'll get plenty of goals. ok

Kimbo is right - those 4 as a front 4 have lots of pace and movement and hopefully Newcastle can dish up some entertaining football (again) this season.

I do have a soft spot for Newcastle, and hope that they do well.

Find it funny that most people think the Owen deal was the worst. Not being tricked into paying £10million (approx.) for a very average spaniard.

Obi, elsewhere today you've said that you'll be surprised if Owen plays more than 10 more professional games.

He was always injury-prone and as he's got older that's got worse. He's also got slower.

How does that look like a decent deal? At least Luque's got a resale value.

Luque was decent but never dominated a game - he was a luxury player.

He also spent a lot of games invisible and was hardly prolific in either assisting or scoring.

And in the EPL he has been shocking! Nothing to do with his strength - he just dithers on the ball far too long - an overhyped la liga player

    @ frank

    He is though!

He scored about 5 spectacular goals per season and suddenly hes worth £8m!

Hes decent but nothing special IMO - people at the time of the signing were saying that he will make Newcastle a big club again - is that not hype?

The hype was mostly from the English media but there was also a lot of it from 606

yes, pace. can't wait to see 4 foot Martins get on on the end of Duff's pinpoint crosses. You're assuming of course that sides will push up against you to allow lots of space for the aforementioned to exploit Doh

All sides will need to do it defend deep against you (ala last night) and you'll struggle.

Roeder needs to get himself a Carew or a Hartson sharpish IMO.

    Ameobi is the targetman though.

Hes not as bad as everyone makes out, yes he is a bit sluggish but so is crouch.

Crouch may have more skill but Ameobi has more power and pace and is a better header and finisher
