    Great finish from Owen!

    2-0

    ------

Russia have been surprisingly poor at the back. Owen had so much time and room to score.

Goal, first decent attack by italy and goal... very lucky. Di Natale on a pirlo cross.

    Ukr 0-1 Italy

Italy have been playing like a Serie B side.

An even more experimental lineup in the second half.

Arne Friedrich for Metzelder, Castro for Jansen, Rolfes for Hitzlsperger

Goddamnit. Podolski misses a sitter. A year ago, he would have scored that one with his eyes closed.

Richards and SWP work better than Neville and beckham ever did down the right for England.... Both players can bring the ball down to the oppositions byline beating players...Ale

That's probably the best I've seen England play since the Uruguay game at Anfield... and in a game that matters, probably since Croatia at the last Euros.

Barry has been awesome, and the rest of the team has knitted together well - great finishing by Owen (2nd - a brilliant knockdown by Heskey because the trajectory of the ball made it very hard). One dodgy clearance by Terry aside, and A.Cole (bridge would've laid waste to their right side) & Gerrard being average, we've been very good.

Gerrard's been average, not bad, but he's had a couple of wasted hollywood balls and skied shots, when we could've held onto the ball even more...
