i just read on another forum someone said this..
"good player but very inconsistent plus i doubt he's 21 plus inter will be asking for big money as he's tied to a long term deal."
is anyone else confused by the secion that says "i doubt he's 21"??

Re: Martins Outs out
BC i think a lot of people doubt many african ages, one the records they keep are sh¡t so who really knows and clearly there is a benefit in saying your younger than you are, so i´d say there are strong possibilities that he isn´t 21, yeah.

Re: Martins Outs out
Martins said he was 18. The records of birthes in many african countries is non existant, so how the fook do we know how old he was we are relying on Martins, don´t you think he may benefit from saying he is younger?

Valencia have lots of cash and their only forwards are Angulo, Villa and Morientes so they really need him im sure they will be in for him.

Re: Martins Outs out
His age is his age. There was some uncertainty - but Martins and the Nigerian authorities have official records that say he's 18.
He'll cos a bit - he only signed an new 4-year deal in January - But he has something genuinley different to their other strikers - small & pacy.
@ La Santa
I'm going to take what you said about his contributions with a pinch of salt. He's done the business in many big games. Stalled a bit last season, but he still has the potential to become one of the world's best forwards.

Re: Martins Outs out
So what are the overall implications of today's developments?
(1) Crespo on loan - will this mean Inter won't buy Toni or Trezeguet now or are they more likely to buy now they didn't have to pay a signing fee for him?
(2) Will they let Martins go?
(3) What to do with Adriano?

Re: Martins Outs out
The image of Martins that sticks with me is when Inter played Anderlecht a few seasons ago:
Anderlecht tried to play the offside trap and fail totally; Martins sprints through and immediately theres about 10 metres between him and the Anderlecht defense; he rounds the keeper and then misses an open goal.
He could be World class but theres a long way to go yet, but he is still young.

Re: Martins Outs out
Let me clarify with the bits I know...
Martins joined Inter as a younster before he was 18 (thats when he had terrorised Arsenal in a game and for teh first time was known in England)... Oba is our only existing star who came thru the primavera, the youth ranks (just like Pirlo before him)... his talent was always undeniable, and when Vieri got injured, Martins was prematurely promoted to the senior squad at 17. He was brilliant the first few seasons as a supersub or whenever he started (as a backup).
There was this contoversy about his age a few years ago, coz he was listed at 18 at Inter, and 21 in some nigerian football site... but the Nigerian FA immediately clarified that their typo and corrected it... so his age is as accurate as any other african player - there is always a possibility of lying, but that could also be the case with Eto'o or Toure.
Last season, Inter let Vieri go coz Mancio finally believed that Martins has come of age to be in the starting XI as a regular, and that his partnership with Adriano is the future of Inter... I must confess, most of us believed that (me included, even tho I was never for letting Vieri go). Unfortunately, Martins did not live up to the expectations, and worse, nor did Adriano... and Inter plunged into a striker crises... I think its more coz of the way Inter play - their midfield needs a target man (Vieri was perfect), but both Adriano and Martins like to go deep... so many many crosses found no-one in position to slot them in... Inter needed at least one of their strikers to be a finisher, and that wasn't happening except for whenever Cruz came in for a cameo... thats why you will see that Cruz in his limited role as a supersub, managed to outscore both of Inters starting strikers...
Martins is young, and he has time. He will become a great striker. But perhaps not in partnership with Adriano... With Crespo coming in, I would expect Crespo to start with either Adriano or Martins... thats the combo which will work.
It is very unlikely that Inter will sell any of their strikers as last season has shown that we need 5.

Re: Martins Outs out
@ Bluenine - totally agree... especially since both Adriano and Martins are left-footed (although Oba has the better right foot by miles).
I still remember how he so nearly rescued Inter in that Semi-Final vs Milan - surely one of the best cameos since the turn of the Millenium.
