Robinho was by far the best player in Copa America. He has potential and talent, his coach must trust him. Unfortunatelly he is not having too many chances to play now. Last season he was ok IMO, but I still expect a lot from him.

unfortunatelly, our press tends to favour pussy footballers who play the so called "artistic football", or even "ballet football", like Seal-Sissy Kerlon, Rogério "Bambi" Ceni, Robinho the Pussy, etc. he's considered untouchable by the press and public opinion. if dunga drops him, he'll run the risk of being sacked, even if he's not playing as a starter for real madrid.

Robinho saved Dunga's job in Copa America. He was by far the best brazilian player of the tournament. Dropping him from the squad would make no sense at all. Who would you pick instead of him?

I was always under the impression that Ronaldo was the golden boy in Brazil a bit like Owen, Beckham and Rooney were/are in England. I just assumed that because every football fan in the world (well in England certainly) loved him, so natuarally his fellow Brazilians would love him even more.

This is what Socrates, a former Brazil player, had to say when asked about Ronaldo being called by Scolari for Brazil team in 2002 WC:

He is a one leg Nike's doll

This hurt Ronaldo a lot, until this day he hates Socrates with his guts, but is hard to judge because everybody thought that his career was finished. But he had to prove to a lot of people that he still was a great player, so if people think Afonso will get a easy ride, please wake up.

BTW about Brazil next game, its seems that Dunga did gave up on Afonso AND Vagner Love. There is a big rumor here that he will use Kaka, Ronaldinho and Robinho and leave the team without a proper nº 9

sheva, he did nothing against Uruguay and Argentina apart from diving and complaining of fouls. against a falling apart Chile it's easy.

I'd put a DM in his place, and have ronaldinho, kaká and afonso to attack.

the DMs could be 3 of those: Gilberto Silva, Mineiro, Elano, Josué, Daniel Alves (he played as a DM against Argentina).

we won the Copa América because we played with 3 DMs.

This seems to be where these rumours originated:

Would be interesting to see if he did play this formation. I personally am a bit sceptical on whether it would work.

He played well against Uruguay and decent against Argentina. I think that he did well enough in Copa America to be a starter now.

Robinho was also great against Argentina at the Emirates. He has so much talent, and is still destined for great things. He is a fairy though, and needs to sort out that aspect of his game.

On Sobis. Extremly talented, not the answer to Brasils No. 9 woes, but he looks at home as an SS, and would should be in the squad above the likes of Love, Elano & Baptista.

Brazil had their only great game in the Wc playing a 4-2-3-1 with those 4 players attacking for them. if robinho could raise his level and lucas could add the box to box part that is kind of lacking that team would be very dangerous.

So my Brazilian friends, what do you think, can we expect to see Diego and/or Naldo tonight?

And what about Nilmar btw? Does he play football again meanwhile, and when do you expect him to be back in the Seleção to replace Vagner Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv?

I doubt Diego or Naldo will start. I'm expecting a standard back 4 of Maicon-Lucio-Juan-Gilberto. Then there will be Robinho, Vagner Love, Ronaldinho, Kaka. I'm not sure about the 2 DMs and a goalkeeper.

Yeah, despite not playing for Arsenal, I still think it'll be him and Mineiro.

The CONMEBOL website and Soccernet's Live Scores both predict these two, along with Julio Cesar of Inter in goal.

Hmpf, why can't Dunga give Diego a chance again for a change? Ah well, I will watch the game nevertheless, maybe Dunga is in a good mood tonight, so Diego gets 10 minutes instead of his usual 0-5 minutes... Rolling Eyes

Who will Diego replace though? He's in super form and is a class player and would walk into most teams in the world, but there's just not spot for him in a balanced starting 11 for Brazil.

I personally don't think Robinho should start (should be Afonso instead), but you can't really play all 3 of Diego, Ronaldinho, and Kaka in the same team, even in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

You're probably right, but he's good enough to give him a chance over Kaka or Ronaldinho from time to time. But maybe Dunga can't do that...he didn't even let him play when Kaka and Ronaldinho were both on holidays... Rolling Eyes

Instead we can see Mineiro, a bench warmer from Hertha Berlin... Rolling Eyes
