Larisa is my favourite Greek team! I remember they won the league many many years ago.... It was a miracle such a small northern Greek town could manage that!

ooijer played the other nite, and did reasonably well considering how he did last season (Cr@p)

Hard luck on being out of the cup.

Last year he was terrible... After a superb WC and a superb season at PSV it was shocking how bad he was in his first games at Blackburn...

I hope he stays fit and hope he'll play a consistent season... He is one of the few good defenders we have in the Netherlands at the moment!

but we have better cb than him, so itll be hard for him getting in the team.

way, bentley has scored 3 goals in his last 4 games because he has got a new free role behind the striker(s)!

Do you reckon he may get a chance with England on Saturday?

I still think I'd prefer to see Young, if only for the fact that I think he'd work better with Owen and Rooney.

He might get a chance as a sub... But there are better players than him...

McCarthy and Santa Cruz work so well together I'd start both, the best method of attack is defence and all that, especially when you're at home

I'd agree with the McCarthy & Santa Cruz bit too

So what now for Blackburn; with Hughes gone, is there likely to be an exodus? A few names there will be tempting, Bentley and Santa Cruz in particular, going on last season. McCarthy and Pederson have also previously been linked with moves to bigger clubs, although neither had great seasons.

I'm pretty sure Bentley will be moving - I can see Liverpool stepping in for him.

Whoever does come in as manager, it will be a bit of a transition, with Hughes having been there a fair while.

Villa eye Friedel as Blackburn face an exodus

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has set his sights on signing Blackburn goalkeeper Brad Friedel

Blackburn are in danger of losing their best players as well as their manager after it emerged that Aston Villa are ready to raid Ewood Park for Brad Friedel.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill switched his sights to the Blackburn goalkeeper after deciding against meeting Liverpool's asking price of £10million for on-loan Scott Carson and is about to make his move now that manager Mark Hughes has completed his switch to Manchester City.

Blackburn are also bracing themselves for the likely loss of David Bentley and Roque Santa Cruz and are concerned at claims that Stephen Warnock has become unsettled and centre back Ryan Nelsen may be on his way out.

Hughes is expected to make Bentley one of his first signings and could bid for Santa Cruz as well if owner Thaksin Shinawatra fails in his ambitious attempt to pair Ronaldinho with imminent arrival Jo.

Should Santa Cruz leave, Blackburn will weigh up a £4m move for Ewood old boy James Beattie, now at Sheffield United.

O'Neill believes Friedel can provide a short-term answer to Villa's quest for a new No 1 and is confident he can land him for as little as £3m, given he is 37 and is on a one-year rolling contract.

Sam Allardyce, the former Bolton boss, is believed to have been asked about succeeding Hughes. MK Dons boss Paul Ince, also a likely candidate for the Blackburn job, was last night the subject of an approach by relegated Leicester City.

Friediel would be a great buy. He may only give you two - three years but like I said before look at van der Sar with us and James with Pompey, it's still two - three quality years.

Samba would be a good buy as well for anyone who could get him.

Ideally from Blackburn's perspective they need someone in there sharpish to quell all these possible exits.

I think Bentley is a bit of a c**t but a very good player so would be a good signing. Santa Cruz woul be good as well, although would obviously rather get Ronnie.
