Yes, BUT The Red Wiz is one the MOST talented players in t'world! BIG difference!!!

I see Scholes' contribution goes unnoticed again. Cant tackle for $h!t, but is there a better englishman over the last decade at retaining the ball? Technical perfection from the little ginger. Thought United looked very cohesive in midfield in the second half, up until the last 10 minutes

Can't make any real criticism of Scholes as I barely saw any of the game but it did look to me that his passing was poor tonight (especially in the 1st half). Fair comment, or did I just switch over at a bad time? Ale

He was rubbish today TRWP. So slow in everything he did. He was like Carrick for England, good passing but no penetration or speed.

Although he does have a few assists and the Spurs goal and he set up the goal tonight with an intelligent pass.

His passing was accurate all night, it was just slow at times and sideways across the pitch. He was too deep for most of the match though.

De Rossi kept tight to him and Scholes doesn't have the pace now to break away as much.

De Rossi and Aquilani are a very good partnership. ok

He was playing that deep last season to be fair. He just had better options to pass to in front of him.

Id cheer up if I were a United fan. Beating Roma and not even out of 2nd gear. As a (fairly) neutral ;-) saw enough glimpses of that typical United attacking prowess for me to think this team can go far this year. Defensively a few nervy moments,

but quite simply, you dont go however hundreds of minutes without conceding a goal if your defence is dodgy.

Strong defence = number one key to Europe. Look at Liverpool and Chavski's success in the past.

Think this United side is the best equipped since 99 to make real push in europe.

No I'm happy with tonight, as I just said in the United thread. 1-0 against Roma is a good win and we showed glimpses off our old selfs (even though it was mixed with some poor play as well).

Rooneys goal was brilliant, I hope Frank and Calidad were watching.

Nani is just like Ronaldo used to be, miss placing passes and the pulls something out of the bag.

I was glad the red predator (Anderson) got a cameo appearance his run when he beat 3 players was quality. I am looking forward to him starting a few games with the good players.

Rio was class, like he always is in the big games.

Totti played well and he should have scored, to break his duck against the English.

Roma played some good passes but they didnt really look that dangerous until they brought a striker on. I think with Rooney, Tevez, Ronaldo, Hargreaves, Carrick and Scholes we can win in Rome.

Saha I thought was poor, he kept losing the ball and we seemed to play a lot better when Tevez came on. I am starting to really warm to Tevez he has played well in the last few games.

Was a decent game, though not the spectacle I was hoping for. Thought Ronaldo, Vidic & Carrick were good for Utd & De Rossi, Totti & Aquilani for Roma. Both defences had pretty decent games too.

Nice to see Rooney get his first goal of the season.

Great strike by Rooney to take the 3 points, well done.

I saw little of the game (just the last 20 minutes) but what I saw looked pretty even. Which is good, coz hopefully it will make Roma self destruct in frustation in Serie A Wink

The last 20 mins weren't very different from the rest of the game. It was quite even throughout. Man. Utd. just about edged it and deserved the 3 points. Roma were not far off with some of their shots though.

Sometimes I honestly think you're watching different games.

The game was very dull indeed. I think a draw was the fairest result even though Roma made the clearest chances. United looked livelier on the wings, and Rooney took the goal brilliantly. Nani also skinned the Roma defence a few times.

Fair enough, I wasn't really watching this game properly, so I can easily be wrong. I posted during the game about Roma's excellent attacking combinations.

Roma only really came to live after we scored and decided to defend before that there were only 15 yards hit by Totti but we didnt too much in attack as well , very dull game.

He was rubbish today TRWP. So slow in everything he did. He was like Carrick for England, good passing but no penetration or speed.

There was insufficient cohesion and lubrication in his forward play hence why he was not able t'get good penetration and therefore unable to go in deep in to t'opposition to do some serious damage!
