Intense game.
First team to qualify. Mission accomplished.
i think inesta is very good and has shown great form but just dont trust him in a 4-4-2 as a CM because when you meet those big teams like france they are too good defensive and will outmuscle you.it was a choice between xavi/inesta and i think xavi performs the deeplying playmaker role better then inesta. also i choose baraja not because i like him or anything but because i think they need a box to box player and only him and raul garcia fit the bill.kas wrote:supermadrid wrote:i think they should resort to using wingers like they did in 2004 where spain actually played well and there was balance in the team. one of their problems is they have too many of the same type xavi/cesc/inesta/guti and they end up using more then they need. imo they should only use one and it should be either cesc/xavi.and morientes needs to play because when they play with one striker those midfielders never support the lone striker well enough. also baraja is needed imo or someone like him, box to box.kas wrote:I agree...Spain will qualify but I doubt they'll do much in the actual tournament.
my team:
------------casillas-----------
ramos---abiol----puyol----capdevilla
joaquin----xavi/cesc--baraja/garcia---silva/vicente(when fit)
-------villa-----morientes-------
I agree, chucking all these CM's in doesn't work (Xabi Alonso is injured otherwise he would have probably started over Cesc), and today the two missing strikers also made a difference. Joaquin has been indifferent again this season, he needs to pick up his game before Euro 2008.
But I can't believe you left out Iniesta and put Baraja there, he's well past it. Shouldn't even be in the final 23. Iniesta must start from now on, and if there are to be 2 wingers, then the 4th midfielder should be Albelda or Raul Garcia as the DM.

100% off side, he was before his man at the header.
Ridiculous defending by us though...

Sorry but it was on side.

It's an away win too. I reckon all the Luxembourgish people are partying.

Aye, all three of them! We still have to play both...so its fair to say its Luxmebourg is the thoughest.

Didn't Luxembourg only lose 1-0 to you last time? They don't seem to be as bad as they used to be.
bluenine wrote:Great play from Scotland, Frnace and Italy. All of them will win their next games for sure. So it looks like the scots will go into the final game leading Italy with 1 point, and France by 2 points. So the games that will decide the GROUP OF DEATH will be on the final day:
Scotland vs Italy
Ukraine vs France
If the scots lose to Italy and don't qualify, it will be harsh... they have been madnificient in a tough tough group... any othe group, and they would have easily qualified.

I and im sure millions of others gave them no chance
Cripps wrote:I think it'll be France missing out.
Cant see them winning in Ukraine.
it partly depends on how much ukraine care. sure, there's pride at stake, but they can't qualify now and they could just treat it as a friendly to try out some different players. i think it'll be the loser of scotland-italy who misses out.Cripps wrote:I think it'll be France missing out.

Cripps wrote:Dont think it goes on GD, its on head to head so Scotland will be above France.
If Scotland beat Georgia then i think they are through although not officially as they will still need a point against Italy but as i said, cant see France winning in Ukraine.

i fear for italy, in that a draw will be enough for scotland (assuming they beat georgia) and in front of a passionate home crowd they could well get one.

Its a good thing the England match is on early on wednesday so i can watch the Scotland match later on.
They've never been in this situation before with these set of players. Can they handle the pressure? We shall see
