Both us and Portsmouth playing well...and it's been fairly even. Benjani has been lively, but Gabbidon and Upson have both played great to keep him quiet.

Carlton Cole is playing fantastic at the moment Shocked He's been putting in a few good performances lately...but so far he's been our best player...along with Green (once again).

Fair scoreline...Portsmouth perhaps have had the odd extra chance...though we've had the best one.

@S4P-lately he's been in good form, he said on our website that he's enjoying playing for us and since then he's playing well.

He never really got a chance to show what he could do. You loaned him out to Villa when they were at a $h!t stage...and to Charlton who are $h!t anyway.

I was fairly pleased when we signed him...but he didn't seem to settle. But it finally looks like he has and is starting to show wht he can do.

hey he got a whole season playing up front and scored possibly 2 goals. it was a poor season for us, but he was probably the most consistently poor performer throughout. wasted sooooo many chances. he's got ability in there somewhere, he just seems to hide it well.

68 mins gone in the Portsmouth-West Ham game, it's really a very interesting game between two sides possibly competing for a UEFA spot...Deano was right, Carlton Cole is playing v. well, making an absolute nuisance of himself, playing a perfect "big man up front" role. He just had an amazing turn and shot which came off the bar, but Solano just couldn't control the rebound header into an empty net.

Final score is 0-0, but there was late drama because Portsmouth won a penalty in the 94th minute after a handball by (I think) Gabbidon. Benjani argued with his teammates, finally got to take it, but his poor effort was easily saved.

Would have been harsh on West Ham, because they were marginally the better side IMO. In the end the point is a fair result, but 0-0 is not a fair reflection of an open game.

    I think it's a fair result...we did start to dominate...but I'm pleased with a point.

We played very well, and so did Portsmouth...a very good game, not a typical 0-0 for sure.

He came closest to scoring for West Ham didn't he. He just couldn't connect with the cross the first time, and the one that ricochet off the crossbar came just to quickly.

He probably had less than a second to react to the second one. If his reflexes were poor, he would've just chested the ball down and walked with it towards goal. Biggrin <Ale>

The first one I would say wasn't as easy as it looked...the ball was a fit far infront of him...but he should've connected.

The 2nd was an open goal Puro...no excuses Laughing

Yes, the second one was an open goal, BUT he had less than a second to react after the ball hit the crossbar. Don't watch the slo-mo replays watch it at regular speed. I'm glad you left with a point (didn't deserve to lose) even though Benjani's miss at the end fucked up my team. Biggrin <Ale>

True though. Zog is still better than Lennon however.

Any way Kimbo, Basch, What do you think of Allerdice cockingup the team for the umptheenth time this season and managing to los eboth to Derby and reading?
I had high hopes for Newcastle when Allerdice went there. While he's a vast improvement over the likes of Roeder and Souness, I can't say I'm impressed what he's done so far. I'm actually dissapointed.
He ha squality players at his disposal and has the ability to play both good football and if necessary a bit of the Bolton grit. But his fixation with Smith and his neglect of Martins are nothing but worrying. Not too mention losing to Derby and Reading, by far the prem's two whipping boys.
He ha sthe players to play a solid midfield, one of the best outside the 'big 4', with plenty of dominance and creative outlets, yet he chooses for grit. While its too early the question on everyone mind must be if Bolton is Sam's level. has he been found out for his lack of ideas? Can he not make a great midfield/team,in spite of having more than enough players at his disposal?

    What are your opinions?
