We could lose the second place and not go to the CL, or even worse end up on 4th and not win the cup and we'll be out of the UC too. And Radoi and Dica leaving the club.

I would add Raul and Salgado to that list. On last night's evidence, maybe even Guti should be shown the door. He's 30 yet he still acts like a spoiled kid and now he's starting fights with half the squad.

I would also add spending anything over 60 million Euros in either Ronaldo or Kaka. In Ronaldo's case, I think anything over 45 or 50 million Euros would also be ridiculous. As great as these players are, we need to replace at least 1/3 of our squad next season so blowing everything on 1 player would be really stupid. Calderon would really be doing a Florentino if he pulls that crap.

The worst for Ajax is .. losing Huntelaar and Sneijder, failing to qualify for the Champions League via losing in the play offs and van Basten refusing to become Ajax coach.

FC Groningen : not buying a new keeper

Failing to find a good partner for Liedson upfront; having to play CL pre-qualification and instead of getting a weak team, getting as usual an Italian...

For Arsenal I think the worst thing would be to lose experienced players without replacing them adequately. We clearly need to bring in a couple of good players rather than just potential ability for the future, so if all our transfer targets are youngsters then that would be very worrying.

Also if Lehmann leaves then there is a fair chance that Wenger will replace him with a keeper who is not up to the required standard. If that is the case then it could be a bad summer for us.

Losing Pepe and Quaresma at the end of the season(will happen anyway )

Not winning the title

Buying tons of average/weak players not needed for the team just for the Board to get transfer bonus.

Nope. Last year we where 10 on UEFA rankings. So next season we’ll have 2 CL (one in group stage if Chelsea, Man United, Roma or PSV wins the CL) and 2 in the UC. This year will finish on 7 so in the 2008-2009 season we’ll have 6 teams in Europe (2 CL and 4 UC).

If both Dutch teams go out this round you will finish 7th otherwise it is quite possible the Dutch will take back the 7th place....

But then 7th or 8 makes no difference!

It does in the long run when your trying to replenish coefficient scores. Chelsea after all will still be second seeds next year unless they win the competition.

Well I sure that Lehmann and Ljungberg will be leaving anyway so I can hardly include that as being the worst. As Sheffield Gunner said, replacing Lehmann will quality is going to be very important for us. If Wenger doesn't get it right we will be in trouble. For me we cannot lose any of the experience like Gilberto Silva or Henry that is a must.

Worst - Any one of:

* Gilberto Silva or Thierry Henry leave without an experienced alternative ready
* Wenger buys a goalkeeper that is not good enough
* Cesc Fabregas or Tomas Rosicky go to Inter Milan
* Wenger doesn't attempt to fix our lack of goals in midfield / Ribery

Yes, this points will count a lot for the next year ratings when Germany could lose even the 6th spot. BTW, in next year ratings Romania will start on the 5th spot with more the 3 points ahead of Germany. Of course Germany can still get back some points this season.

Not signing the right players, which is difficult to explain because it's not just 1 or 2 obvious players, but the overall sum of our transfer window dealings which will determine "right".

Basically we need:

- A fullback: preferably Dani Alves at RB but if we can't get him then continue Zambrotta there and sign Abidal

- A DM: but not some low-on-technique bulldozer like Sissoko (who we'll pay too much for) or a box-to-box square-peg-in-a-round-hole player like Yaya Toure (who will become the next Gravesen)

- A backup striker: keep Saviola? Or throw money at yet another player to fill a position we've had trouble with since we first signed Maxi Lopez to cover it

- And a CB wouldn't hurt: lots of candidates so hopefully we don't get this wrong.

The other thing that could go wrong is we schedule another long and aimless pre-season tour that tires out the players.

Worst, in order of worseness:

1. Relegation - shouldn't happen, but can't be ruled out yet
2. O'Neill leaving - shouldn't happen, unless 1 happens.
3. Not signing anyone

I think we could cope if any player left to be honest, even Gerrard, perhaps we would struggle to replace Carragher but he's going nowhere.

Benitez leaving would be very bad IMO, so that as well would be the worst thing

Messi, Ronaldinho and Eto'o leaving as well as Rijkaard.
It's impossible but its the worst that can happen.
Beside that, if we dont buy some quality stuff in terms of defence and DM.
