I can remember us playing them in the UEFA cup 10 years ago or so.

Wind, rain, cold....and the poorest opposition I ever saw.

We were even more poor that match Sad

I looked it up : it's 16 years ago, we played them in 1991 Yikes

We had a decent team at that time, should have done a lot better than 0-1.

    Lodewijks Patrick
    Boekweg Claus
    Zigmantovitsj Andrej
Veenhof Jan => worst FC Groningen player ever. Anything was allowed in our "vak" except praising Veenhof, or talking bad about Joop Gall Ale
Wilson Ulrich => incredibly underrated player, should have played in Oranje in his prime
Duren van Mart => Martha ! Favourite of the fans
    Olde Riekerink Edwin
    Huizingh Harris
    Roossien Jos
Djurovski Milko => probably FC Groningen's best player ever
    Meijer Hennie

    subs

Gall Joop => most appreciated FC Groningen player ever
    Drent Martin => local hero

Great wins for Werder II, Aachen and Wuppertal. Were all the Bundesliga sides playing full-strength teams or did some of them rest players?

They definitely played their best 11. The cup still has the same value as in the past in Germany.

If you look at who scored the goals for Bremen II, you'll get the idea. Those are both first team players.

    Now, this is absurd.

Mertesacker is allowed to play for Bremen tonight although he got a red card (two yellows) in the round before. He simply sat out the Bremen II match, which took place a day after the Bremen I match.

As if he would have played two matches in two consecutive days...

    Some loop-hole, huh?

how the fook can bremen and bremen II both play in the cup ffs, they scrapped this in spain a good few years ago so B teams such as Castilla couldn't play in it cos of the obvious potential conflicts of interest
