Post by Isco Benny Tue Nov 06, 2007 6:15 pm

Manchester United are compiling a security dossier after claims that their manager Sir Alex Ferguson was verbally abused by Arsenal fans.
The incident is alleged to have taken place at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday during United's 2-2 draw with the Gunners.

"Our security people are compiling a report on it - the incident was behind us," said Ferguson.

"But I'm sure that Arsenal, with their CCTV cameras, will have picked it up."

Ferguson was unhappy with the refereeing performance of Howard Webb on Saturday, but he said the hostile atmosphere inside the stadium had been a contributing factor.

"It is very difficult for the referee," he said on Saturday.

"On our bench, we were getting terrible abuse from people two or three feet away from us.

"There is a lack of security. It is absolutely disgraceful the abuse you and your staff take
. All sorts of things are being shouted and screamed at you and there is an absolute danger here."

But a spokesperson for the Gunners said: "Stadium security is of the highest importance and we feel there is ample stewarding around the dugout area.

"However, the club does recognise that some exchanges which take place can be of an aggressive nature, and there was an incident this afternoon where one supporter was ejected.

"There is also CCTV which monitors the area which our stadium management crew review in detail after games, and if necessary the club will take further action."

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh the delicious irony of it all, when you consider how often you see a red face Ferguson on the touchline savaging the ref or 4th official Biggrin

Does Fergie, or indeed any manager have a leg to stand on when you consider these guys hurl abuse at referees for 90 minutes themselves?

What a shame the club are letting fergie drag it down with him

He is clearly the most powerful man at the club but somebody really should have a word with this fool. He has gone beyond a joke already

That late goal hit Fergie hard. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a story coming out about him kicking a boot across the changing room after the game into Wes Brown/Orange's face.

This is quite clearly a very serious issue. How should Arsenal be punished? Games behind closed doors? Points deduction?

We are extremely fortunate to have such an upstanding and honourable character as Alex Ferguson in the league, to point out injustice and the disagreeable aspects that pollute the beautiful game. Hopefully he will be providing dossiers of all sets of supporters in the league that make unkind remarks and we can remove these unpleasant people from our game.

I have nothing against Man United, no agendas.

However, I find the hypocrisy of Fergie in this instance breathtaking.

Here is a man from Glasgow renowned for his hair dryer treatment on players and, most importantly, ref's, COMPLAINING he got abused by some fans in a top of the table clash!

Hardly a shrinking violet is old Fergie. (Sorry Parky for saying this): Employed a THUG as his captain for many years, never criticised Keane for the abuse and carnage both his tongue and his studs caused,

    only makes it more laughable.

He's been a silly c**t in this instance, outdoing even Arsene "I didnt see nuffink, all teams play too physical against my poor harmless side" Wenger

Well a couple of seasons back one of the Utd fans sexually assaulted one of the stewards at Charlton and UTd as a club didn't get punished. Personally I think that's far worse than a few abusive words.

Same as Sheffield United's post, that doesn't make it right.

Heard loads of Arsenal fans use the 'Wenger gets it far worse at Old Trafford' line. It's not like Fergie is telling the fans to abuse Wenger.

Still, Fergie's being a bit silly on this one.

You people are idiots. The guy shouting at the 4th referee is nothing in comparison to what he is talking about. How can somebody who is talking about a refereeing error and occasionally uses an f word while describing his views be compared to someone shouting plain abuse, probably about his kids and what not.

The way the Arsenal dugout thingy is made it means your average bitter arsenal fan is sat just a yard behind people he hates with a passion. it's no surprise such abuse has occured, the stewards were apparently awful and just allowed it to continue all game. Arsenal should sort it out <Ale>

But Ferguson doesn't just moan about refereeing errors, he moans about any decision that goes against him. For him to say that the ref was biased in favour of Arsenal demonstrates that.

How the hell Schuster's comnents relevent to this at all? The moaning is not stupid, i think people just hear the word abuse and forget what abuse actually is. You don't expect to be sitting next to an arsenal fan shouting abuse at you all game. and then the stewards to do nothing about it. Calling a ref who was not biased at all a barca fan is relevent how? scratch

Wenger was fined last season for questioning the ref's decisions in one of our matches( can't remember which one exactly), Ferguson will surely go unpunished for his comments.

He hasnt made a comment like that about a ref for awhile. It's simply because this ref is gonna be the main ref. So he's just throwing his little mind games about. moaning is not abuse.....

The relevance is fans that realise their manager is on about something absolutely stupid and silly, yet still try to defend him pointlessly. Or not, in the Madrid fans' case.

If Ferguson really has such a problem and the abuse was something extraordinary, then he should file a complaint about it. We certainly don't hear Mourinho crying when an entire stadium of 30,000 or more are chanting "Fuck off Mourinho".

Or what if every player complained they got abuse about their family or whatever whenever they went up for a corner?

Verbal abuse happens at every match, and i bet it's not the first time it's happened to Ferguson, so for him to complain only implies that he's still bitter about the result. Get some perspective, he didn't have bottles or coins thrown at him.

30,000 people shouting f@ck you is not the same as someone 1 yard behind you abusing you personally all match. The former is nothing and something you can easily ignore. Also, his abuse of officials is irrelevant as it's only ever professional abuse at the most.

I said at the time that perhaps the fans are too close to the dugout (I honestly can't compare without seeing pictures) or that the stewards didn't do their job.

Exactly the crowd singing you're a wanker is hardly something fergie would complain about. It's the fact that he's basically sitting next to some guy who is calling him a peado drug abuser, he should get cancer his wife is an ugly f@ck with warts growing out of her vagina, he hopes his kids get aids etc. This is what he is talking about.

Even if that is the case what's all this 'our security people are compiling a dossier' CIA bollocks? (Although if Saint is to be believed AIG might even now be kidnapping the blokes kids to be child sex slaves).

i wonder with this if there is more to it than meets the eye in terms of who was doing the abusing? what are his security guys going to be able to do, they'll have no access to CCTV footage, only TV pics, which I doubt will show enough, they'll be more focussed on SAF. So considering where the seats are, the club aren't likely to "sell" those to non STH unless they are players, staff, family or friends. At Highbury, there was a "paddock" area behind both dug-outs where players (youth, reserves, coaching staff sat) if its similar there this may be his angle of attack. Anything to get back at Wenger and distract the FA from his ref comments
