Even with Rooney and Owen out, surely there's a better striker in England than Defoe? Suspect

And I don't think Owen should return to Newcastle after this. Take a sabbatical from football till some other club makes a transfer bid for him.

Are you actually watching it ??

The thought of england austria with beckham, flump and co in a friendly was too dreadful for me to want to watch

I had some time to kill before a meeting, and usually any football > no football. But this was dire.

    Poor Gareth Barry.

Outrageous to be honest. Lampard had 10 shots, not one on target, gave it away numerous times. I just don't know what he is playing at saying this Cr@p.

Just finished watching the DVD recorder, after reading the thread, I'm glad I went out and missed it...

Defoe didn't really get much action. When he did get the ball, he laid some nice passes off nothing more.

It didn't help when all our players kept booting the ball to his head, and expecting all 5'7 of him to win headers.

England, as a whole were clueless, the sooner McClaren fucks off the better, and he can take Beckham/Brown/Lampard/Gerrard with him.

Another thing to come out of the game, David Pleat is now not the worst co-commentator. Step forward David Platt. It is clear to see why Forest are now in the League 1 after having him as boss. A complete fucktard.

    I think we should play:

    (from midfield)

    --------------Barry----------------

    ------Lampard----Cole----------

    SWP----------------------Young

    --------------Crouch------------

    We won't though. We'll play 442

Defoe's shite though. I'd rather bite my arm off than play Defoe!

Not sure Defoe and Crouch would work anyhow. Both like ball played to feet. I'd play Bent who prefers spinning off the last defenders and running onto balls.

Young put in a world class cross for Crouch last night. Mc Wankstain is blind ok

3 goals in how many caps? And 2 of those were against Andorra at home FFS. For every international goal he scores, he must have been offside 50 times.

Bent hasn't really been given a chance.

Bent's had one start and two sub appareances I think. Defoe's got over 20 caps. Maybe because he has experience, he should start, but his record is pretty poor.
