Lescott was pretty good against Chelsea though and I said on Man Utd thread could Agbonlahor be a target for us most said no , I said we can develope him technically but he wouldnt want to be on the bench so a no go.

Biggrin What! I can't give brother Pierre credit for pointing out Ashley Young over THREE YEARS AGO! Biggrin <Ale>

I pointed out N'Zogbia 3 years ago, no one is verbally rimming me! Grr

You pointed him out because he had a silly name, that not the same <Ale>

Never! Me and some other bloke, greggavedon i think, were giving him hype back on 606. We saw the talent! <Ale>

Yeah I remember Greggavedon, however you do realise he was being highly ironic - I had a long conversation with him about how the Japanese had already built a statue of N'Zogbia out of chocolate; that in some regions of the World N'Zogbia was a type of religion; the N'Zogbia was quickly replacing short back and sides as the haircut of choice etc etc.

He wasnt being serious. After all, this was a player signed by Graeme Souness, in his words. He was taking the piss <Ale>

He was signed by Bobby Robson. Whether greg was taking the piss or not, he was right. <Ale>

We'll see. Only time will tell. He's still got a long way to go in my eyes.

Signed by Robson, who he insinuated was senile at the time. Dont blame me, blame Greg <Ale> Biggrin

I agree, not as far as Lennon mind but yeah he's not the finished article. <Ale>

    Except get Ashley Cole injured.

...and that alone should be enough to put him up amongst the greats ok

Not at all. It meant Lescott had to play LB against Russia. What a fine piece of management that was by the way.

I don't think I'm biased when I say Drogba could quite easily have had a hat-trick yesterday. Hibbert cleared one well off the line. Lescott was good last season but I haven't seen him play well once this season for club or country.

...er, a lot less than £9m.

How I laughed when Ashley came up with that delightful cross yesterday Laugh

I have to say, I am eating my words when it comes to Agbonlahor - he's a player.

    Confounded.

About time. It's silly a lot of people seem to think having pace is a bad thing Doh
For a player of his age to be playing as well as he did last year clearly showed he was more than just a pace merchant. Very useful player to have around.

Bridge had a good game yesterday. I think he will be the LB in the next England game.

    ok

    Same - Gabby > Walcott.
i think part of the reason people dismissed agbonlahor is that for a long spell he was played as a right winger, where he is not a natural and he did tend to rely solely on his pace to get past players - which made it rather easy to dismiss him as just a pace merchant. o'neill said that spell at rw would develop him as a player and on evidence of this season since he's moved back to being a striker, he may well be proved spot on. he's getting among the goals now and he really could be a very prolific scorer.

clearly, he still has areas to develop but another thing in his favour is his attitude seems to be spot on, whereas moore, who i'd see as a far more natural footballer, doesn't seem to be performing when given the chance and may well find himself left behind (although i still hold out hope that he'll start showing what he can do - he has a good record against boro, so i hope he starts next match)

8 goals already this season for the club legend despite injury and rafa deciding the best way to draw a match is by keeping him on the bench. not bad for someone tweedle and frank told us wouldn't score many goals. Long may it continue

I don't understand this Winners and Losers column. Half the people they put in the Winners section are usually criticised anyway Doh
