I'll be happy if we fail to qualify, because if precedent is anything to go by McClown will be sacked, and we can start looking for a proper manager

it'll be disappointing, as i support england and want them to do well, but that is tempered with a slight hope that it could be of benefit long term, in that we might actually rebuild and try and get towards making a team that could actually win something.

and that's the key for me, actually MAKING a team. not just hiring some half-assed coach to pick the 22 most famous english players and shove 11 on them on the pitch together, but getting someone who actually has a plan, a style and picks the right players to implement it.

Meh couldn't care less, only that manc eng players get a good rest up in the summer.

Sad at the same time because I can't laugh at them bottle it in the latter stages of the tournament after being told they can go all the way with their 10 world class players.

Delighted. We won't win the tournament with McLaren so the actual tournament will be far better knowing we've already lost.

Between gutted and not caring. I want the big teams to be there so you can see the matchups between the tougher teams. I want/need England to qualify. An EC without England would be like a christmas dinner without your dodgy cousin - its not that you are overly gutted, but its just not the same without him.

So I voted gutted. It would be a shame not to see them at the EC.

Personally, fairly happy; but only to serve as a wake-up call for England.

I have nothing personal against the country really, and tourneys are fun when you play the big boys. The Portugal-England matches have become classics and were I lucky enough to see Portugal win a major tourney... I'd rather see Portugal beat England and similar countries along the way than, no disprespect intended, Estonia and the likes...

In short, happy to see England get knocked on its ass (the media desrves this, I wouldn't say the fans do)... but fully expecting the Three Lions to bounce back.

Gutted...mainly because the atmosphere here will be $h!t. One of the best things about these tournaments is the way EVERYONE here gets interested. If England aren't there...hardly anyone will be, and for me it will take the shine of the tournament.

I'll be double gutted if Italy f@ck up too...will become a Sweden fan for the Tournament...

Anyway England fans hope you watched tonight's match because you will not play in Austria for a while...

Commercially it would be a desaster!

I hope Platini will do something against it otherwise he will lose a lot of money...

I can't see he'll like that... So at the end of the day England will qualify because otherwise the UEFA will lose too much money...!

Was just trying how convinced you were. England are more important commercially I agree. But UEFA/Platini - FA hasn't been a good relationship lately.

I will be quite gutted, England is a traditional Football nation and it always a shame (at least for me) when one of them is out of a great tournament like Euro. Players like Rooney, Rio, Gerrard, Lampard Terry, Owen, Cole are stars and those tournaments are always more fun full of stars.

But more important the people of England love football, and for them I really hope England qualifies. The country has a very high attendance in football matches; the fans support the teams even in the Cup tournaments, they create great atmospheres for the games and they deserved a much better FA, really shame what those morons did with the Scolari case, and picking Steve McClaren was a horrible mistake.

Isn't it amazing that Roy Hodgson's name never seems to crop up ?

    He has managed:

    Halmstads BK
    Bristol City
    Örebro SK
    Malmö FF
    Neuchâtel Xamax
    Switzerland
    Internazionale
    Blackburn Rovers
    Internazionale
    Grasshoppers
    F.C. Copenhagen
    Udinese
    United Arab Emirates
    Viking FK
    Finland

He has a great diversity of Experience, coaching all around the world and he is English !

HE took Switzerland to WC '94, reaching the 2nd round and also qualified them for Euro '96.

He took Inter to a UEFA Cup final too.

    Interesting.

Usually the 'big teams' and the home team are favoured by referees at tournaments because FIFA wants them to get through. Look at the Brazil vs Belgium, Brazil vs Turkey, Germany vs USA and all Korea games before the SF at the 2002 WC.
