I was hoping you could tell me this, seen as you told me that Jose and Chelsea received preferential treatment from referees.

I did say a point at best we could have done with - but there was a strong case for all 3 points as Chelsea rarely got forward and we were in a a strong position - and up until that point we were the closest team to scoring.

And when theres a case for all 3 points, we;re talking about a place in next season's Champions League.

Im sure theres more to it than that- on the free kick

but like i said, theres been far more decisions that went your way that season - that game where im struggling to remember- which caused an uproar in liverpool - where we had "3" legit pens turned down - if thats not clear ref bias towards Chelsea, i dont know what is...

And the 05 CL semi - Uncle Romans 6 minutes added time.. which nearly gave Chelsea more time to equalise - nearly cost us a place in the finals again.

And Cech should have been sent off for his tackle on Baros in the same game - and a penalty awarded. The ref came out the next day and said he did Chelsea a massive favour. Ale

Jose always put pressure on referees - whichs why referees choked in Chelsea games - that John Terry "Cech-esque" save springs to mind - dont think he even got booked. - if thats not "preferential treatment" i dont know what is.. Ale

Let's start earlier in the season with Arsenal, Carragher should have been sent off for taking down Adebeyor when he was the last man. Arsenal should have also had a penalty. In the game against us Kuyt held back Mikel so that he couldn't make the challenge which would have prevented your goal (clearly shown on SKY sports). Against Villa the free kick that gave you your winning goal was a joke. Since then we have had the almost weelky Carragher pulling players down and getting away with it. The thing is Liverpool expect to get all the decisions their way. You just have to listen to the crowd who howl with disgust at the most obvious of free kicks given against their team. Chelsea didn't get a free kick for 20 minutes against Liverpool in the league match this year and that isn't because there weren't any fouls. When Alonso finally came in from behind and committed a bad foul which the referee couldn't avoid giving the crowd howled with derision. Talk about putting pressure on referees.

    The referee was total $h!t...

    -Wasn't a penalty for Birmingham.
-Tottenham's penalty was right...but he should've gave the foul on Muamba...so again, poor.
-Robbie Keane's sending off was ridiculous...considering what Mikel and Kalou got yellows for yesterday.

However...Tottenham's tactics kind of bemused me. Playing 3 in midfield against a team with 5 in midfield?? The big spaces there that Birmingham had were obvious...and yet he still didn't change it.

    I think a draw would've been fair...

Mikel won the ball in the air - Mikel just headed it to the wrong player - he was far too strong for Kuyt - Ive got all the MOTD highlights on my flash drive and ive watched your game about 50 times now and that was never a foul. no chance.

The free kick at Villa was harsh but a foul nevertheless- Im more than happy to give you a copy of the game if you want to see for yourself. Petrov just blocks Gerrard.... its hard for me to explain the obvious.

"You just have to listen to the crowd who howl with disgust at the most obvious of free kicks given against their team." -

Its the case in almost every home ground Cinders.

Dont think ive seen the home fans applauding a refs decision that goes against them in my entire lifetime of watching football. Have you?

Maybe if Chelsea players didnt harass the referee at every opportunity, then they would start getting their decisions their way

to block someone, you need to get between them and the ball. gerrard cuts the ball inside and realises he's going to lose it, so decides to carry on running straight into petrov - appealing for the foul in almost the same motion. it was pathetic. petrov did stick a foot out, so gerrard could've at least made the effort to pretend to go after the ball and fall over. great free kick, mind.

they should get something vs city, who ain't been too good away from home. but spurs' away record is rather awful too, so they won't get much out of those other 2.

they need to sort themselves out soon, it's nearly halfway through the season. they'll genuinely be in a relegation battle if they're in the same position in 10 games time.

I can't remember these legit pens so I won't comment. All I'll say is that if they were at Anfield, with 40,000 scousers screaming at the ref, he would have given at least 1 if they were as legit as you say.

GR-09 wrote:And the 05 CL semi - Uncle Romans 6 minutes added time.. which nearly gave Chelsea more time to equalise - nearly cost us a place in the finals again.

6 minutes was the allocated time. If your players hadn't been time-wasting in the last 20 minutes there wouldn't have been so much added time would there?

GR-09 wrote:And Cech should have been sent off for his tackle on Baros in the same game - and a penalty awarded. The ref came out the next day and said he did Chelsea a massive favour. Ale

Ref played advantage. Had he sent Cech off, he could not possibly have given the goal. Cudicini is much better at saving penalties and in case you haven't noticed from our wins against you and West Ham we're often a better team when we go down to 10 men early (FFS it took a world class Barcelona side nearly 50 minutes to score after Del Horno's dismissal). You would not have won any easier had Cech been sent off.

And you don't think Rafa had any influence on the ref being banned for a week following the Pool-Chels game? You don't think Jamie Carragher has made several "Cech-esque" saves this season, last season and the season before last, yet always gets away with it?

Anderson really doesn't scare me, as long as Carragher, Agger, Gerrard, Kewell and Torres start we can beat anyone and will beat United
Anderson should, he's better than any of your midfielders. Rio will handle Torres, no problem but without Rooney it could be a 0-0.

One things for sure your an utter tool.

And you don't think Rafa had any influence on the ref being banned for a week following the Pool-Chels game? You don't think Jamie Carragher has made several "Cech-esque" saves this season, last season and the season before last, yet always gets away with it?

Match was on New Years day - crucial time of the year where points can be easily won and lost - and gain advantage on your rivals .
Prior to that game, we were on a good winning run - winning almost all our fixtures in the festive period. That run looked set continue, until Mike Riley decided to take centre stage Ale

Will watch the FA Cup incident again - sure will Ale

I now remember that game I was on about. It was a CL game in the Group stage - season after we won the CL. That game at Anfield - the Italian referee choked 3 times.

    There goes the link.

Jose's continous whinging about the "ghost" goal did the trick I guess

Funny that just reminded me about the return game at Stamford Bridge as well - where Essien's dreadful high tackle on Hamman went unpunished. Not even a yellow. Ale

Regarding the semi - we werent time wasting at all. Chelsea were by far more dominant and had most of the ball. Those 6 mins came out of nowhere. Ive watched that game over and over again - 2nd half you lot were all over us - dont think we had a chance to time waste.

Any evidence on Carragher doing a "Terry-esque" Save would help.. Rafa had nothing to do with the ref being banned - just expressed his disbelief at the decision and rightly so - like any other manager would.

This completely contradicts your opinion on Jose/Chelsea and "preferential treatment".

    Not at all.

My point about Chelsea under Jose getting "preferential treatment" still stands...

    scratch

Considering some of the fouls yesterday - Keane's was a definite yellow, and Dowd should have showed some consistency by carding, even sending off McSheffrey & Schmitz for multiple cynical fouls, psarticularly on Lennon.

I accept that once again, we were the architect's of our own downfall though. ok

    No replays of the penalties.

    This is Keane's second: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-6BiTTC1r4

I thought Keane only deserved a yellow, it wasn't as bad a tackle as Mikel's or Diouf's were this weekend.

Mikel - Yes, although they are rarely given straight reds. I can understand his frustration though. It's not nice to be kicked every 20 seconds.

Terry - No way. It did warrant a yellow though, but the same could be said of Boa Morte's follow through on Cudicini.

Thanks for those highlights SG...found some more, and it seems that Keane was indeed unlucky to be sent off. The tackle was a yellow for sure, but then his momentum caused him to move a little more once on the ground, and his leading foot slid further into Jerome. No fault of his own, but you can see why the ref gave it red.

But I have to say, Robbie Keane as a striker is pure class. Full of flair, great linkup, and never scores an ugly goal. Pity his time abroad didn't last long, because I can really see him doing well in the Spanish league.
