That point still would not have got you 4th place.GR-09 wrote:2)I dont think there was anything wrong with that decision- but i seem to rmemeber in the same season- a Chelsea game where we had 3 legitimate penalty turned down. It must have been a CL game.
Nothing wrong with that decision? Since when was sliding to intercept a pass (Carvalho) and clearing it out of play a free kick to the opposition?GR-09 wrote:3) I wonder why that is the case... with Jose and the red cards that is.... interesting point that
I was hoping you could tell me this, seen as you told me that Jose and Chelsea received preferential treatment from referees.
I did say a point at best we could have done with - but there was a strong case for all 3 points as Chelsea rarely got forward and we were in a a strong position - and up until that point we were the closest team to scoring.
And when theres a case for all 3 points, we;re talking about a place in next season's Champions League.
Im sure theres more to it than that- on the free kick
but like i said, theres been far more decisions that went your way that season - that game where im struggling to remember- which caused an uproar in liverpool - where we had "3" legit pens turned down - if thats not clear ref bias towards Chelsea, i dont know what is...
And the 05 CL semi - Uncle Romans 6 minutes added time.. which nearly gave Chelsea more time to equalise - nearly cost us a place in the finals again.
And Cech should have been sent off for his tackle on Baros in the same game - and a penalty awarded. The ref came out the next day and said he did Chelsea a massive favour.
Jose always put pressure on referees - whichs why referees choked in Chelsea games - that John Terry "Cech-esque" save springs to mind - dont think he even got booked. - if thats not "preferential treatment" i dont know what is..
Let's start earlier in the season with Arsenal, Carragher should have been sent off for taking down Adebeyor when he was the last man. Arsenal should have also had a penalty. In the game against us Kuyt held back Mikel so that he couldn't make the challenge which would have prevented your goal (clearly shown on SKY sports). Against Villa the free kick that gave you your winning goal was a joke. Since then we have had the almost weelky Carragher pulling players down and getting away with it. The thing is Liverpool expect to get all the decisions their way. You just have to listen to the crowd who howl with disgust at the most obvious of free kicks given against their team. Chelsea didn't get a free kick for 20 minutes against Liverpool in the league match this year and that isn't because there weren't any fouls. When Alonso finally came in from behind and committed a bad foul which the referee couldn't avoid giving the crowd howled with derision. Talk about putting pressure on referees.
