EB World Footballer of the year Award

Since some of us are not too happy with the Fifa WPOTY and Ballon D'Or, lets start a competing award!!

The EB WPOTY Award!!

Format: Everyone gives their vote for the top 5 (in order) players for the calendar year 2007. Your top choice gets 5 points, 5th choice gets 1 point. There is no shortlist, please vote for who you think are your top 5 for this calendar year.

Voting deadline is 13Dec2007, the award will be presented next weekend.

I think the first vote should come from France Football Magazine, as a show of respect to the Ballon D'Or. We will also have one vote from FIFA WPOTY results. Each of these will count only as 1 vote.

If I could choose an european born player to play for my team, it would be Gattuso.

and I see Robinho received a vote because of Copa América, when he did nothing in the 2 most important games.

Looks like Messi might be leading so far! Could be a close run in between Ronaldo and Messi by the looks of things.

Interesting so far. Think it shows how popular Messi is more than anything.

Ronaldo started loseing form in the final few months of last season and has over the past 3 or so weeks only really found that form again, so i wouldn't suggest the has been the most consistant in 2007, although when he is on song hes a joy to behold.

In many ways Messi is quite similiar last season on the whole was a damp squib for Barca, although admittedly not having seen more than 4 Barca games this season hes looked very good.

I'd suggest there is an arguement that Tevez may have had the best / most consistant year thus far, keeping West Ham from the drop after putting in a handful of match winning performances dragging them out of the relegation zone and forming a devasting partnership now with Rooney, which should he personally have a good season and collectively (i.e team win lots of trophies) i'd say Tevez would be the man

Spanish would vote for Messi , English probably for Ronaldo except people who dislike him or his team (some not all) , Portugese for Ronaldo and rest depends on personal liking.
I like Ronaldo more so I am biased towards him.

We got 17 votes so far, I suspect that the voting will close at 40-50 votes, so a loty could change yet.

Makes sense. Even if I don't rate Gattuso that highly, its always nice to see someone vote for a defensive player.
