Re: Who will win the UEFA Cup
Atlético Madrid, with the talent they have in offense will make any defence worried. I've seen they put up some poor defensive displays however and that could become a problem.
Bayern has the most pressure on them to win no doubt, I don't know if they'll win, but they definitly have the right pieces.
I'm guessing at least one of the 'favorites' will go out earlier than expected... so basically in the next round.

I'd like Atleti to win it. They haven't won anything for many years, their fans deserve it! It would be great that Atleti win a trophy and Madriz win f@ck all as well

Not sure I fancy Bayern.
I quite honestly fancy one of Atletico or Villarreal.
And of course we can't forget the strongest team by a fair distance, Fiorentina

Re: Who will win the UEFA Cup
I can't work out how Everton, with virtually no European experience can have such good odds! I mean look at them in comparison to PSV! If Everton draw PSV, they'll be out, I guarantee it. I expect them to maybe make the last 16, but not get beyond that.
Experience is vital in the knockouts.

You do have Maniche, Simão and Reyes. Maxi being an Argie international has got to have what it takes.
Still that defence...

Re: Who will win the UEFA Cup
I'm not too optimistic actually. Even if we play the great football we showed at the beginning of the season it might not be enough. The team still needs more experience in Europe and in knockout stages.
You should also not forget about Bremen (definitely) and Hamburg (maybe).
If Werder get their injured players back and sort out their defense they would have just the right mix to go very far.

Re: Who will win the UEFA Cup
Simao, Maniche, Reyes, Raul Garcia (Osasuna last year), Luis Garcia, Forlan, Mista, Motta
Everton (to demonstrate the flaw in tweeds' argument)
Gravesen, Howard, Stubbs, Pienaar, Arteta, Phil Neville, Nuno Valente, Wessels, Yakubu, Yobo, Cahill
and our defence is sh¡t

Re: Who will win the UEFA Cup
If Sporting can get Derlei back, have Djaló find some kind of decent form or find an OK striker, and bring in a LB I think our chances of going far will increase dramatically.
Our midfield is good, if limited in numbers. Adrien Silva has finally broken into the squad however and I'm expecting good things from him just like when Moutinho came into the team.
Although Rui Patrício has great talent I think it may simply be too early for him to be keeping goal at this high a level. He's definitly learning from it, and if he does well it'll help build his character, but for now he may just be too much of a liability as oppossed to Stojkovic.
Sporting was unlucky not to progress in the CL, so I believe they have the quality - they just need to apply themselves.
Comparing our chances with those of the clubs closest to us, I don't see Rangers being more likely than us of winning and I'd fancy our chances against PSV as we have a good record against the Dutch.
I'd like to avoid the Spanish and Fior as we have extremely bad luck against the Italians.... they don't deserve to progress but do (Udinese etc.).

Re: Who will win the UEFA Cup
Forgot about Luis Garcia and wasn't too sure about how much playing time Forlan had gotten with Man Utd... but he did play for Villarreal which I blanked on.
Still, they're all midfield and forward players.
Sporting: Moutinho, Liedson, Polga, Derlei (if we can get him back soon) - then there's the E. Euorpeans but I'm not entirerly sure how much they've played but I know they have: Stojkovic, Izmailov, Vukcevic, Purovic. I believe Izmailov has the most out of the eastern group.
In an ideal situation Purovic won't be playing.

This UEFA Cup looks loaded doesn't it! It helps a lot that an Italian team appears to be somewhat focused in this tourney.
