Tempogegenstöße, seems Martin Jol settled in necely

I believe that my team is Galatasaray will reach at a good result against bordeaux tomorrow evening.

Although the team has too injured players, the whole team extremely want to win this match or not lose it.

Before the match in Ali Sami Yen, the result of this first match get more important for us because whatever We will beat them in Ali Sami Yen but tomorrow we totally have to focus the first match.

According to Mathijsen on HSV.de the NEC pitch will be unplayable after 30 minutes. Could be rain & snow too during the match.

Will probably suit NEC, think a draw would be OK, since the return leg is Hamburg where Dutch teams always do well.

Should be a HSV win though, NEC are a well organised team, but miss a few key players. They do not have a big squad & the players they have on average are worse than the HSV ones.

    Still it's a Cup match.

    First leg Villa-CSKA tonight, 7pm

Let's hope they're playing like the rusty pre-season types they should be!

I hope we go for the win and not worry toooo much about conceding away goals. MON's talking about clean sheet being most important thing, but I think we'd be in a very strong position if going into 2nd leg at, say, 2-1. We've got the set-up to get goals on the break away from home if the opponent needs to score.

Heskey's out. Hopefully Davies is fit, and it'd be great if Cuellar was back too.

When I saw your line-ups I didn't understood why Advocaat starts Pogrebnyak (who basically can't play any footy), but with this unplayable pitch it could be a masterstroke. Hope the Russians are matchfit enough (no league overthere)

Been kicked Bouaouzan out of the team..what kind of idiot is this? First he kicks a player almost to death, then he blames the doctor for it, now this.

He should be banned for life!!!

NEC is the unterhund for this match for sure.

Kicking out players of the squad is something Mario has no problems with. Looking forward to him doing it at Feyenoord.

Heard the pitch is very poor at NEC (can't be worse than in Russia that match is played on a tundra sp?), maybe Mario can use that. Suits a striker like Beukering.

Good strike from Tymoschuk, and Zenit go in at half-time with a 2-1 lead.

It has been a decent match, certainly given the conditions - the pitch is frozen and it looks pretty torn up and bumpy in places. It isn't that cold at least - my stream is also showing the temperature hovering around -3 degrees centigrade. I thought Stuttgart started to get the better of things as the half progressed - they're a bit more direct; Zenit kept pushing forward though they were slipping and making mistakes at the back and giving Stuttgart openings; Gomez has had a decent game, and I thought he took his goal very well - but Zenit finished the half strongly.

It has been a bit of a dirty match too, with lots of little fouls. I think the Stuttgart players have complained too readily at times - they overreacted to a challenge by Sirl that earnt him a yellow card, huddling round the incident, and amidst that huddle Marica grabbed Pogrebnyak by the throat and could have received a booking had the referee seen him. And Lanig is probably in danger of being sent off.

    Villa team:

    Guzan
    Young-Davies-Knight-Shorey
    Gardner-Barry-Petrov-Young
    Carew-Agbonlahor

Subs: Friedel, Salifou, Harewood, Bannan, Lowry, Albrighton, Delfouneso.

Can only assume Milner's picked up an injury, as I don't see why he wouldn't at least be on the bench, even if he's being rested. Not delighted about Friedel being rested, as I doubt that back 4 has played together much (Shorey rarely plays) and Friedel is a great organiser.

Subs show our squad is getting a bit threadbare with Cuellar, Laursen, ReoCoker, Heskey, Milner (presumably) injured, plus Sidwell suspended.
