    Celtic Empty Celtic

Post by The Bulk Fri Dec 21, 2007 7:44 pm

The son of the founder of GAP has invested in Celtic. The billionaire has bought a modest slice of the club, but some speculate that a takeover may occur in the future with JJ Fischer taking over at Parkhead.

Celtic already have two billionaire owners but they are reluctant to pump their own money into the club ala Roman Abramovic style.

Celtic are so tight with their cash it is risible. They have stalled over paying £2.1 million for Hinkel because they don't want to spend that much on a RB!

Laughing What is it with these money men buying a club if they aren't going to do anything with it. An expensive toy is not much worth of a toy if you don't trick it out so that you can brag about it to your friends next time you are on your yacht.

Celtic drew 1-1 today against a mangerless Hibs team.

Jan Venegoor of Hesselink is coming under some serious criticism in Scotland. The Scottish media are pretty disparaging about his ability.

Donati is also coming under fire. His performances have been very mediocre. He's like a ghost on the pitch sometimes.

This is Celtic's worst season since John Barnes was in charge! If they lose against Rangers on the 2nd January, Rangers could go 9 points clear!

Robert - Dermot Desmond (also a majority shareholder of Man Utd and owner of Celtic) uses the club as a means of networking with powerful business people and other celebrities. I don't think he really cares if Celtic are successful or not.

And Celtic's best player this season, McGeady, is suspended for the Rangers game.

The frustrating thing for Celtic fans is that the board insist that they have a quality team!

Mark Brown - Inverness Caley Thistle

    Gary Caldwell - Hibs
    Pressley - Hearts
    McManus - Youth
Lee Naylor - Wolves reserve LB

    Brown - Hibs
    Donati - Atalanta
    Hartley - Hearts
    McGeady - Youth

    McDonald - Motherwell
    JVoH - PSV

Their team is devoid of players with any pedigree. It is patronising for their chief executive to suggest that their team is chock full of talent.

He points to their success in getting to the last 16 of the Champions League two seasons in a row.

What most people don't realise is that Celtic - and Gordon Strachan confirms this! - don't succeed in the Champions League through skill and ability. Celtic succeed by taking advantage of technical errors made by their opponents.

The reason Strachan signed Nakamura wasn't because he believed he would be particularly effective in open play in the SPL - he bought him because he wanted somebody who could score from set-pieces.

Strachan aims to succeed through technicalities rather than skill and ability. Corners, free-kicks, penalties, and errors are Celtic's methods of success.

    Hi Oleguer,

Yeah, Celtic shouldn't be as defensive as Rangers were against you. They will have to open up and attack you at Parkhead to have any chance of progress. I don't support Celtic or Rangers!

I don't think some Celtic fans are happy about playing you for the sixth time in about 4 years. I'm sure Barca fans would have probably wanted someone different, too.

Celtic always seem to play Barca, Milan, Benfica, and Shaktar in Europe!

Celtic & Rangers are both rather ordinary at the moment. We're unbeaten against both the Old Firm this season, winning twice and drawing once - and this is the worst Hibs side in about 4-5 years. If only the OF hadn't have pillaged our side, I'm convinced we'd be top of the table. We've literally (well nearly) lost our entire first XI over the last 2-3 seasons.

We've lost no fewer than 10 first choice players in under three seasons.

We are quite pleased with the draw.. On paper it is the easiest one we could have gotten, and we can maybe decide the whole thing in the first leg. We are still smarting a bit from the UEFA game 3 years ago..

And sorry for calling you a Celtic fan (eventhough we kind of like them down here) Wink

Celtic have an average average squad. They have 3 decent players for my money...Mcgeady, Boruc and Brown. And Brown is still not the finished article lets say. When one or two of those are out then they are a very average limited team. Jvoh is useless. the defence is garbage, Donati big club reject like Graveson and Jarosik. Celtic signing Naylor was bizarre in the first place, surely they can do better?

They managed to get to the cl next round again, still pretty good to do that. But the league is gone already i would say. Rangers have a bigger squad, and a better manager for winning the league. If they don't win the old firm clash in a few weeks then thats it, it's over right there for me. They definitly need Boruc fit for that since Mcgeady is already out.

Celtic and Rangers both won today. If Rangers overcome Celtic on the 2nd, I think they'll win the league. Rangers are 2 points behind Celtic but with two east games in hand.

Celtic are missing their best player for the 2nd: McGeady. Nakamura is also missing, and Boruc might not be fit, either.

So, essentially Celtic are lacking invention (McGeady), threats from set-pieces (Nakamura), and a solution to their pitiful defensive play (Boruc). I think Rangers will beat them next week.

    I thought this was funny

ABERDEEN footballer Chris Maguire is being investigated after a vitriolic outburst against Rangers appeared on a website.

The Pittodrie youngster has been hauled in front of club chiefs after comments about the Ibrox side appeared on his Bebo internet page.

In the message on Maguire's site he branded Rangers "scum", called Barry Ferguson a p**** and Alan Hutton a d***.

Maguire allegedly vowed to "take out" Rangers captain Ferguson. The 18-year-old striker also threatened the same treatment for Gers' and Scotland defender Hutton.

Maguire made the threats before the fiery clash between the sides at Pittodrie last Sunday during which he angrily clashed with Ferguson.

A message posted on a Rangers-supporting pal's Bebo page on December 20 from Maguire's page read: "We will beat you scum on Sunday. I'll take out that wee p**** Barry Ferguson and that d*** Hutton. Haha."

Maguire and Ferguson clashed during the hotly-contested draw at Pittodrie three days later. The Scotland captain grabbed the Dons' player by the throat after appearing to have been fouled by the youngster.

However, the startled Aberdeen forward didn't live up to his pre-match boasts and refused to react to Ferguson, who escaped punishment for his retaliation.

David Edgar of the Rangers Supporters' Trust described Maguire's comments as sad. He said: "Who exactly is Chris Maguire to say anything about our national team captain and £8million-rated right-back?

"What has he achieved in the game? When he has some medals he can come back and talk to us.

"Let's face it though, he will probably be playing for East Fife and working in Asda in three years.

"It's what you'd expect from an Aberdeen player. Their problem has always been that they are more obsessed with us than they are with themselves."

Aberdeen strenuously deny Maguire had any knowledge of these posts on his web page and say hackers are responsible.

A Pittodrie spokesman said: "Chris maintains the comments were left by someone else who must have used his Bebo account.

"He is aware any such comments are totally unacceptable and that Aberdeen FC will not accept them."

Maguire is rated one of the most promising young players in Scotland, having made his debut for Aberdeen aged 17. He has since become a regular in the side having made 27 appearances, scoring one goal in the process.

It is also alleged that three weeks ago comments from Maguire's page made reference to Celtic and read: "Alrite m8, Wot s*** is that u have got on ure page???

"And Alan Hutton. He is a p**** and is s****.

"There's only 1 team in scotland m8 and we all know who that is .. champions again this year ..."

SFA chiefs last night admitted the matter is likely to be referred to their general purposes committee with Maguire being investigated for bringing the game into disrepute.

A spokesman said: "The situation will be looked at. It's not for us to say how the situation will develop."
