Boro sign Afonso Alves

Second ruling rescheduled for next week, AZ and Alves couldn't reach a deal / settlement out of court.

Afonso Alves moet met meer bewijsmateriaal komen om duidelijk te maken, dat hij onder voorbehoud heeft getekend bij AZ. Dat is het tussenvonnis dat de arbitragecommissie van de KNVB woensdag bekendmaakte.

Alves krijgt vier weken de tijd om het bewijsmateriaal te presenteren. De spits zou toen hij op 23 december 2007 zijn handtekening zette, een voorbehoud hebben gemaakt dat zijn zaakwaarnemer én advocaat Ribeiro het document moest goedkeuren. Dat deed Ribeiro niet. Alves moet echter getuigen of ander bewijsmateriaal zien te bemachtigen.

Door dit tussenvonnis lijkt het uitgesloten dat Alves nog deze transferperiode een nieuwe club vindt. Dinsdagavond zat de Braziliaanse international van SC Heerenveen nog op de tribune bij Middlesbrough. Hij heeft tot en met donderdagavond de tijd een nieuwe werkgever te vinden.

There's been an "inbetween ruling" : Alves has to provide more proof to support his claim that when he signed he made the deal that it still needed the autograph of his lawyer.

He's got 4 weeks to supply that additional proof....the transfer window closes tomorrow though

Unless Boro forks over 2M Euros to AZ, I can't see them signing Alves this window...

I can see your point definitely...Im sure if he does sign for us he'll obviously just use us as a stepping stone...he is clearly an unloyal twat of a footballer..but if he comes here and scores us 15 goals by the end of the season. Keeps us in the league and maybe even gets us into the top half..he'll be a good buy. If we sell him for more money at some point that'll be ok too

SSN says Roma have made a late bid. He would be a fucker to leave Boro in the $h!t now but stranger things have happened.

Ive just heard the opposite, that it has been rejected after all !

Will have to wait for confirmation.

Both Sky sports and BBC sport say it has been granted.

A member of staff at Middlesbrough confirms to the BBC that Brazilian Afonso Alves has been granted a work permit - however, there are still details to be worked through before his deal from Dutch side Heerenveen is completed.

Still no news....

Somethings gotta give though, my guess is it will be Middlesbrough who'll be doing the giving : 18M to Heerenveen and 2M to AZ.

MIDDLESBROUGH - SC Heerenveen en Middlesbrough hebben donderdagavond kort voor het sluiten van de transfermarkt overeenstemming bereikt over de overgang van Afonso Alves.

Dat heeft directeur Yme Kuiper van de Friese eredivisieclub bevestigd. De Braziliaanse spits heeft volgens de Friese club een contract voor 4,5 jaar ondertekend bij de Engelse club.

Overigens is AZ helemaal niet akkoord gegaan met de gang van zaken rondom de transfer. De Alkmaarders, die Alves in december een contract lieten ondertekenen, hebben al laten weten stappen te zullen ondernemen bij de wereldvoetbalbond FIFA.
