I've only just seen this topic, but well done to Adebayor. I would have gone for Drogba or Kanoute for the award but Ade has improved a lot this year and is playing really well this season. It's no surprise that he has done well in a public vote though, he is making more of an impact currently which always influences the vote, and it isn't surprising that voters in the UK vote more favourably for players based in England.

Someone said something earlier about Drogba scoring more goals this year. I don't suppose anyone has the stats for both players in the last year? I would imagine they are quite close. Drogba has probably scored more, but I wouldn't be surprised if Adebayor has more league goals. It would be interesting to compare at any rate.

And yes, I believe that there has been at least one non-black winner of the award. The BBC article says Mohamed Barakat is a previous winner and he isn't black.

Your an idiot if you cannot understand the concept that young players improved as they gain more experience and play with better players. Adebayor wasn't even as good last season as he is this season, similarly Drogba wasn't so gret in his second season as he was last season. It has nothing to do with how big their club is.
