Spurs are without doubt a more successful club than Newcastle, when you say 'bigger' you are questioning their size, so for me it would be bizarre when questioning size you don't consider fans, stadium and purchasing ability.

Newcy have a bigger stadium, spend more wages, and were the more consistent team in the league between 1993-2004.

I expect 15,000 Spurs diehards to turn up to WHL tomorrow to welcome Woodgate at the official unveiling.

    Nah.

    The real question is...

    Gareth Bale - £10m
    Adel Taarabt - £2m
    Yuri Berchiche - £1m
    Darren Bent - £17m
    Younes Kaboul - £8m
    Danny Rose - £2m
    Kevin-Prince Boateng - £5m
    Jonathan Woodgate - £8m
    ???Alan Hutton - £9m???

    Total = £62m

    ... money well spent?

Debatable, it all depends on what you base it on. Spurs have won more cups, but Newcastle have more league titles - which surely means more!?

This in no way suggests that Newcastle are a 'smaller' club than Spurs. Ale

    Hutton seems great tbf;

Let's be honest Kimbo mate...Spurs spend money recently on great players too.Berbatov,Davids,Malbranque,Naybet...

Newcastle have everything to compete with the likes of Liverpool,Mu and Arsenal but due to their englo-english view about manager in general and their romantism (they think they can be successful with offensive manager)well because of that you are in crisis since 4 or 5 years now!

Hope with Keegan you're in the right direction but so far the guy is playing Carr in RB...say it all for me <Ale>

Whats this $h!t about him not being injured for ages?

He missed games towards the beginning of the season because he was injured..he's just missed the last 2 or 3 games because he was injured...he probably still is injured. He's had to be taken off in several different games because he simply wasnt fit enough to continue.

I hope he gets back to his best but he's been piss poor at times this season.

Naybet, wtf?! Keegan is playing Carr because half of our defence is at the afican nations cup, i've explained this to you already. Carr has to be played because there is no one else, the only other options would be to play with a kid or play with 10 men.

And we're not in crisis ffs, we're not Leeds. We have a rich owner and no debt, we're in a nice position in that respect. People bang on about stability, well we're more stable now than i have ever seen.

Why if he was so amazeing with Boro he wasn't involved in the english national team failure ?

Seriously he is a great player even if at the time i thought he was very rude sometimes but why wasn't he playing when England had to play with Lescott for example ???

Its called a cup, and when you don't have many perhaps its a little arrogant to question the value of winning one, but then you've never experienced it, perhaps if Newcastle one day win a trophy..... you'll understand Ale

The intertoto is a cup, that doesn't mean it's important. Personally i've never really seen the league cup as a major competition, if others do then fair enough. And before you say it it still wouldn't mean anything to me even if we won it - my reaction would be "why the bastard couldn't we win the other one". <Ale>

    The Scum:

    League Titles: 2 (1950/51 & 1960/61)
    FA Cups: 8 (1901, 1921, 1961, 1962, 1967, 1981, 1982, 1991)
    League Cups: 3 (1971, 1973, 1999)
    Community Shields: 4 (plus 3 more shared) (1920/21, 1951/52, 19610/62, 1962/63)
    UEFA Cup: 2 (1972 & 1984)
European Cup Winners Cup: 1 (1963)
    Anglo-Italian Cup: 1 (1972)

    Pretty good tbh...

The problem is neither club has been successful recently. If you're going to look at trophies won then you have to look at ALL trophies, and not just pick a period to suit one club. <Ale>

Can you remember Spurs ever winning anything bar a league cup? I hate these arguments, fans of midtable clubs bickering over trophies won mostly before they were even born, as if one counts for more because it was a few years more recent. Rolling Eyes

Just so that people are aware that Newcastle did win something once upon a time. People seem to think we have no history, i read somewhere today that Leeds are "although not in the league undaboutly bigger" - despite winning less of everything.

First Division and Premier League titles: 4
    Champions: 1904-05, 1906-07, 1908-09, 1926-27

    FA Cups: 6
    1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1955

    Inter-Cities Fairs Cup/EUFA Cuo: 1
    1969

These 2 should count but they were listed for Spurs so...

Charity Shields and Community Shields: 1
    1909

    Anglo-Italian Cup: 1
    1973

I'm not saying that is great, not at all, i'm saying that it is comparable with Spurs less than impressive haul. <Ale>
