The 1987 Generation Empty The 1987 Generation

Post by fcb Tue Feb 12, 2008 8:03 am

Interesting article by Gabriele Marcotti...seems like 1987 was a prolific year for talents. The best team of players born in that year:

    -------------------Joe Hart-------------------

    Gonzalo Castro---Pique---Fazio---Drenthe

    ---------------------Mikel---------------------

    -----------Fabregas-------Nasri--------------

    --------Messi------Rossi--------Benzema---

Other names: Sergio Romero (GK), Djourou, Noble, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Jo, Jeremy Menez, Ben Arfa, Luis Suarez, Oleksander Hladky (who? ), and Aaron Lennon.

Still funny to put Drenthe at left back.. surely there are better 20 year left backs out there..

From 1987 of the Feyenoorders, both De Guzman & Bruins >>>>> Drenthe

De Guzman should at least be on the bench of any 1987 team.

Also AZ's Moussa Dembele should be in the team. He's much better than say Lennon.

    Sports Illustrated, typical american $h!t.

Goof golden generation, a bit like a good bottle of wine.

What about Tony Kroos for Bayern, or Aguilero for Atletico? Are these two players born in 1987. I think there should be more Argentinians, Brazilians and Dutchies, but maybe they don't have a starting place in their clubs.

I'm sure there are indeed more, but like De Guzman pointed out, it's a lazy article. Marcotti has just thrown in all the well known names to cater to his mostly American audience.

Who is that Argentinian DM that Inter keep on getting linked to? He must be about 20/21 so could act as a replacement for Mikel.

Also, no offence to Pique and Fazio, but where the hell is David Wheater Question

Banega? He already signed for Valencia, and I think he's 19, which makes him born in 1988.

Obertan should also be a good shout, he's 18 and he plays for Bordeaux. I can see him do well in the future because he's very elegant and talented for his age, and he's already a key player for Bordeaux.

Portugal always have good youngsters because their young team always shine in competition. The guy who wrote the article certainly over looked your country. What are the three best prospect in Portugal, EM?
