Remember watching the Roma-Madrid game seeing all those yellows for both sides, thinking well at least if we get one of them they'll be missing a few players. Roma were great that day but Madrid had no attack. De Rossi missing the game at old trafford coule be crucial so he will have to be careful.

Wouldn't be surprised if Fergie tried to put some sort of pressure on the referees before the match. You know, the old mind games.

Also it would be a blow if Vucinic got booked and Totti didn't manage to recover in time for the second leg. Perrotta would be our forward. Shocked

Cracked Tibia as well. People only think it was a broken ankle but his lower leg was also fractured, was a bad injury.

So what do we think both teams first teams will be for tomorrow?

I expect Utd to play something very similar to that against Villa on Saturday, although personally I'd drop Giggs for Nani.

Also I wouldn't be too surprised to see Fletcher.

Will Roma make a direct swap for Totti with Mirko?

I would prefer the second one, with Guily comin on as a sub.

Perhaps Spalletti will go for some experience with Panucci?

Fletcher and Nani are injured Tweedle, Nani two weeks, Fletcher 4 - 6 weeks. Saha is still out as well.

Leaves us with Hargreaves, Carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Giggs, Ronaldo, Park, Rooney, Tevez. I'd go -

    ........................ Carrick
    .............. Anderson ..... Scholes/Giggs

    .......... Ronaldo ................ Tevez
    ......................... Rooney

The only thing we can't do is play Giggs and Scholes in the same side as neither is as mobile anymore.

    That's better ok

    Optimistic?

I'm slightly worried for you in truth. Roma really have a point to prove in this tie, and lest be honest, missing totti isn't really a loss for them as he usually chokes at this stage of the competition.

They've got a lot better squad depth this time round and are doing a lot better in the league this season

Doh Thats like saying that ManU would not miss Ronaldo or Chelsea will not miss Drogba. A silly thing to say, Tweedy. Totti still is by a distance the best player roma have, and their main inspiration.

The first leg should be an even game IMO, though I just can't see a Totti-less Roma upseting ManU over 2 legs.

Surely you could tell that was a barb bluey Razz

Course he'll be missed - not just for his ability but also the fact he IS Roma and I suspect the other players morale will have taken a bit of a dent from his injury.

I hope hope Scholes plays lol!. It was funny watching ManU on Sat with Scholes getting away with foul after foul. Should have easily got a yellow card. I very much doubt that a Euro ref with be so lenient especially as Roma can actually play.

Scholes should play at home. Away from home in europe is no place for Scholes as we have seen a number of times in recent years. Man Utd are likely to have a lot less of the ball, and he now plays as a deep playmaker, so he's going to be making many tackles and getting frustrated. He got sent off in the first half the last time, not again please.

Limited options though. Its either -

    Anderson, Carrick, Giggs

    Anderson, Carrick, Scholes

    or Anderson, Carrick, Hargreaves

I'd hate it even more if Giggs starts.

Definitely no place for Scholes away from home. The tempo De Rossi, Aqualani and Perrotta will set will be too much for him. Anderson Carrick and Hargreaves please. Then Anderson Carrick and Scholes in the 2nd leg. Though quite frankly i'm feeling very apprehensive about this match, like we are on our way to a big thrashing.

I’d also go for: Hargreaves, Carrick & Anderson. But SAF may start Scholes on the basis of ‘experience’. Who knows SAF could even play 4-4-2 .. A score draw (preferably 1:1) would be a fantastic result.
