For the 1st goal yesterday, simple patient play the team making sure to hit Roma when they least expect, a total of 14 passes were made and Carrick was the heartbeat, not being uncomposed or missing as you are alluding to, he made some vital interceptions (one from a dangerous ball played by De Rossi) and carried the ball from the defence to start a number of attacks and moves, never unfazed and always disciplined. I just question were you watching the game or watching the game and having what you want to happen in mind far away from reality.

I barely saw Park touch the ball in the first half. Also thought Anderson was quite poor. Its testament to Carrick and Scholes IMO - they held Utd's midfield together superbly, and of course Rooney who ran around like a man possessed.

Ronaldo IS the best player in the world.

Its almost laughable that on this day last year, some Serie A followers were saying that Mancini was as good as him.

Park and Anderson were both poor , Anderson may benefit from having a proper no 9 who could hold the ball not Ronaldo upfront who at times let Mexes head the ball without even jumping but he was poor , need to improve.

Very Happy Very Happy He played great. I'm just placing a common sense view of the importance of scoring goals and end product. If Carrick, Ferdinand, or other top players had the ability of Ronaldo they would be forwards scoring goals. It is still the naturally hardest thing to do in top football. I have never given him enough praise until now, he was also not in this class he is today so I'm going to praise the guy for coming so far and forever improving.

All I saw was the Man U midfield back off ala England for most of the game.

Also whlst I can't remember 17 passes that lead to the goal, it was Rooney who made the decisive action with his run at the Roma defense and pass to Scholes.

How many times did any member of the Man U midfield have the ball in control under pressure.

Did you see his game against Villa at the weekend? Best performance I've seen from him.

The really annoying thing is there's STILL room for improvement! Not just from him either, but from the entire Utd squad!

Nani and Anderson still aren't fully settled in and neither is Tevez. Rooney still hasn't had the season that IMO he is capable of yet.

Then there's the right back position - Brown is a severely limited player. If they got a decent right back - someone like Sagnol or Miguel, they'd be a truly scary proposition.

Yep, scoring a fantastic header and hitting the post AWAY from home in the quarter finals of Europe goes down as an 'average' display in most people's books ok

Quite a few times, in the 2nd half when the Romans went for it. As for the build up for the 1st goal it was all down to being patient, Rooney once he gained possession started what would be the killer goal.

Tweed: I do not watch Villa or much soccer this season because of time so I did not get Setanta. Had to coach a U 16 tier II Girls side as their coach was hurt.
So when you have not seen Ronadlo much you see his improvements more maybe. I agree the man always getting better this is what makes him on par for being like the all time greats.

I dont go on about but why do people watch games if they have already decided what happened and who did what before it ,they make their minds up before they even watch it ,come on watch a game neutrally (probably not possible if you are watching your own club) then decide.

They trash adversaries in the League games, are in the top of EPL table, and now they pretty much put their asses in the semi finals beating one of the best teams of Italy. They went to Roma and got a 2-0 victory, when Arsenal did the same with a very bad and aged Milan side, people were talking of Arsenal as the best thing since sliced bread. Rolling Eyes

I am not sure if a team can win both League and CL these days, its very hard, but it would be very beautiful to see such great team achieve this, in the other hand, oh boy, can you imagine how big the United supporters head will be? I have been to Red Cafe a few times and I know that they can be obnoxious. Just imagine working in the same office as nutters, I will pity his co-workers (and Of course all Liverpool’s fans) Shocked

But of course I will be happy for the others United supporters here that are normal. <Ale>

Regarding Ronaldo he gets labeled a one trick pony with no end product for 3 years and then next he is being labeled as a player who does nothing else but score.

Funny thing is that in yesterday commentary during the game, Brazilian pundits were saying the inverse, Ronaldo can do anything, he can cross, he as a great pass, he can score, he can use his head, he is fast, he is very strong physically, he has technique and he has the latin flair. He is the best player in the world. ok
We love you too Juligen (dont know about the others but personally Blush )
