An Inside-Forward/Winger, yes. He still does spend time on the flanks unlike your orthodox forward who will be in or around the box, take his goal yesterday he ran into the box he was the deepest of the forward minded players. Plus he even in the 2nd half and most of the 1st half play on the wings and made runs into the box, one of them could have led to a goal.

But dont you and others get on Liverpools back if they win playing defensive and tactical? so were you critical of them because they were defensive, pragmatic or because man utd couldnt do the same?

I think you live in a parallel universe. In the last two years the team has started to play how it always should be attacking free flowing football, from the years previous where it was dull and we were never going anywhere.

was 7-1 defensive? was the 3-2 milan defensive? was the 3-2 celtic 2-4 dynamo 4-0 dynamo defensive? this is all in this season and last.

Liverpool are a defensive team period. Premier or cl for the last 2-3 years. Man Utd no chance you can even label this Cr@p. Yesterday was perfect away from home how to play. If you think man utd should take the game to Roma in Italy then you're even more naive than i thought. to win 0-2 away in Roma is great. Liverpool's win in barca was good....same with arsenal in Milan. To win away to a big team in europe is great.

I doubt you will see a semi final like pool-chelsea with man utd ever. If we play defensive and long ball at home you can come out with this nonsense.

Yeah being top scorers this year proves this wonderful point robert

Last year we were only 'pragmatic' against chelsea ie a team who can 'damage' us

We thrashed psv, attacked barca in the nou camp and were the only team trying to play football in the final. We just didn't have any cutting edge.

This argument is total B/S I'm afraid mate. Your double standards are appalling

If you want to criticise us, then accept the criticism for your own defensive displays. Fergie has been doing it for so long away in europe I am surprised you are even putting up a defence for it

Do people even realise what they are saying anymore?

You think beating Besiktas 8-0 makes you an attacking team? No sorry to dissapoint you it doesn't.

Double standards are coming from you more than anybody as usual COTR. Sissoko was motm and 1-2 was a correct reflection, Barca had numerous chances as well it's just we expected Barca to thrash pool which made it idfferent. Nobody expected Roma to thrash man utd. Benitez is a tactical genius but Fergie a defensive bore.

    Get out of here.

Gimme a break. Barca had lion share of possesion at the nou camp and were doing most of the attacking. You scored from two counter attacks simillar to us and also hit the post from a sissoko 40 yard hit. And now you're trying to make it as if you attacked. You were beaten 1-0 at home playing defensive. I can't see us playing defensive at OT on Wednesday.

I didn't watch the PSV matches so can't comment.

I have no problem accepting criticism for being useless away from home. What I do have a problem with is how suddenly we are being tagged with it like we do it all the time.

Don't bother trying to use that flimsy top scorer excuse you know as well as I do that Beshiktas skews that score ridiculously. Try playing in a group with Sporting and Roma.

Finally by pragmatic all the time, does Benitez not always field Alonso, and Mascherano away from home in the pl? Certainly away to Bolton,, home to Reading, home to West Ham, Is there a reason to have a double pivot against such teams? No, shut the f@ck up then.

That depends on the quality of the creation. If you dribble past 3 men, and lay the ball on the platter for someone 5 yards out and they hit wide. Who has the easier job?

Agree. Everything depends on what your talking about in creation. But in my mind there is many more chances created in games than goals scored and If you put the ball in the back of the net your more use to a team. imo. What Ronaldo can do puts him above many other players that mainly just create....Smile

Roma vs. Man. United thread - Page 23 0708romamanu4_DSC02616

For those not aware. 4 man utd fans got jailed for 2-3 years or so for the trouble last year. They said they were just defending themselves from attack on a bridge going to the game, but the police attacked them, arrested them charged them and then they were sentenced all in 9 days without a lawyer that spoke English or even a translator, apparently they didn't even know what they were charged with until the trial, and it was largely unreported in the media.

Francesco Totti is not expected to play at Old Trafford on Wednesday as Roma aim to shock the Champions.

Manchester United hold a 2-0 advantage from the first leg and on the back of 10 consecutive home wins in the Champions League it looks unlikely that Roma can pull it off. And now their inspirational captain reveals he won't be back in time from injury.

"I will not be there in Manchester, I will not play at Old Trafford," he said.

Much has been made of how his absence cost Roma in the first leg but it has been blown out of proportion I think. Totti played all four games against us before Tuesday's clash - and did not make an impression in any of them, apart from providing an assist to De Rossi at Old Trafford, with the scoreline at 6-0...
