They obviously needed this (although not such an extreme drop). This team has reached the end of a great cycle and needs remodelled. Bayern suffered utter humiliation last year and had a clear out before spending a fortune and are now looking like returning to europe's elite. Milan now have to do the same. Luckily they have pirlo and kaka to build around Wink

The thing is, even though we won the CL last year the signs were there. I mean, we were struggling bad in the league and everyone could see that our squad is thin and needs reinforcements but they decided not to act.

Therefore, they brought us to a position where we are playing against Juve to keep our CL hopes alive with a back line consisting of Cafu, Favalli, Simic and a Leicester City reject in goal.

We don't have anyone on the bench who can make a difference and when Seedorf, Pirlo or Kaka are out we struggle bad. In Dida we had a liability of a goalkeeper but instead they decided to renew his contract for three years. Everyone knew that we couldn't count on Ronaldo+Pippo to stay fit and yet until December we had only one striker at our disposal, Gila who is a mental-midget. The coach made many requests for players and they were turned down and instead they gave him Emerson. Even now they swoop for two players that the president wants and not the manager.

I'm not discounting what Berlusconi has done for the club but over the past couple of years the management deserves serious criticism.

It's strange that you have the biggest wege bill in Europe (maybe less than Chelsea). That might be holding you back. It's all these old stars that are keeping it so high. Replace them with younger squad players then you can have a stronger 1st XI?

That depends on the Coppa. The 3rd UEFA Cup slot is reserved for the Coppa winner or finalist. If either of Lazio or Catania reach the Coppa finals (by beating Inter or Roma in the semis respectively), then the 7th place finish would mean Intertoto cup. However, if Inter and Roma make the finals as expected, then the 7th place finish would mean direct UEFA Cup.

Anyways, I don't think Milan would finish 7th... 5th is the most likely result at the mo.

If Milan end up with UEFA Cup, it might be a blessing in disguise as berlu might abandon his plans to get expensive stars (Dinho/Sheva) and instead focus on getting some youngsters to rebuild. Thats what Milan really needs.

But nothing is decided yet. Fiorentina have a tougher run-in - and they might not get any points tonight against Inter. This also gives sides like Udinese/Doria some hope, the battle for CL has only become more interesting. The only thing that got decided yesterday is that Juve will take the 3rd place.

Ibra is still not fit, and not named in the squad for tonight... his replacement, SuperMario Balotelli!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on Mancio, lets start the kid and see what he comes up with against Viola. Also good to see Rivas and Chivu have shrugged off injuries to come back into the squad.

There was a rumour that Inter were planning to loan him out to Man City... to sweeten the Elano deal. But I think those are just rumours.

I agree with the loan bit... but would prefer if Inter send him on loan to a small Serie A side for 6 months and see how he copes.
