parky apart from rooney there is no other pole on cert to start up front and the one thing england are lacking elsewhere with the players he's been picking is pace. i'm not necessarily in agreement with picking him, but it must be an option he needs to explore further and why not v the usa who are clearly weaker opposition than many of the friendlies and will give him at least some chance to see what he can do

Heard a rumour Capello had decided Rooney wasn't suited for the lone striker position. Is a rumour though, but Rooney hasn't impressed in the last two games.

That's because we haven't been playing with pace behind him + have been playing long ball up to him. Of course it ain't gonna work!

If he played for a non-top 4 club... Erm

    He's still a 20 min player.

I'd say that he's worth being part of the squad though, if only for the impact.

Not every player you pick for the squad has to be viewed as a possible 90 minute first teamer.

I think he wants to start Rooney and Walcott up front. I don't think Theo is ready yet. He's still too lightweight and against International defenders who know how to use the physical advantage without fouling it will be a problem. Still, I would always have him in my team over the selfish Defoe but there are still better options like Ashton, C.Cole and Kitson.

Well I would rather if we are playing one man up it should be Crouch. Rooney should be one of two.

Walcott at present is a twenty minute player.

People were raving about his assist for Adebayor, but was I the only one that noticed he ran a third of the pitch before anyone -Mascherano - tried to tackle him?

Man whats going on here we need to send the 3-5-2 telepathic message out to our new England coach.

    ------------------------James for now---------------------------

    ---------Richards-----------Ferdinand-------- Lescott----------

    ---------------Hargreaves-------------Carrick-------------------

    ---Gerrard------------------J.Cole-------------------A.Young--

    --------------- Rooney--------------------?-----------------------

No wingbacks both Dm's play more of a lateral role in front of defence..... cheers

    You're missing Crouch.

I really like that as all of Gerrard, Young and Cole can play in any position in that line. Makes it possible to interchange. Still prefer Barry over Carrick. Especially as he would be the only left footer in the side. Plus Barry and Hargreaves can fill in the full back postions if needed.
