I don't understand it at all. I'm not his biggest fan, but he did more than enough last season to be given a chance in the England squad. Also, this will be a squad without the injured Owen and presumably the suspended Rooney, so if Bent can't get in this squad its a bit ominous for the future. Andy Johnson better not be in the senior squad ahead of him!

I just cant see how 2 players can go from WORLD CUP PLAYER to U21 without ever playing a game, and a world cup contender in Bent....again never given a chance. Its stupid.

and Bentley only 21? He needs to get it together- hes been pretty shite for the last 2 seasons.
Reo Coker seems the most likely of those in midfield to make the step up pretty soon, and Milner. The rest, Im not so sure of...possibly Huddlestone but too early to tell- Bentley and Ambrose- not good enough in my opinion, the Crystal Palace boys I havent seen enough of to make an opinion
