I agree that foundations have to be laid, but Chelsea's foundations were actually made around the Hoddle era when he employed Gullitt, who in turn attracted some big name players and the club became successful FA cup and Cup winners' cup winners before Ranieri. Ranieri developed the foundations further, however Chelsea remained a decent Cup side, and never challenged for the title.

Mourinho took them to the next level.

Now Grant has done a pretty good job, but he will probably end the season empty handed. Mourinho hardly left Chelsea in disarray. Might want to re assess that rather strange claim old bean

As for Schuster: Getafe are positively flourishing without him.

So far, Madrid have cake walked an extremely weak La Liga season - no challenge has been made, Barca are in transition, Valencia are all over the place, Sevilla have lost their manager etc.

the REAL test of Schuster and Madrid was in the CL, and they failed quite magnificently against a Roma side who are historically nothing but average in Europe. Manchester United didnt even have to break a sweat over 2 legs, and had the luxury of playing almost a B side at Old Trafford.

The jury is still out on Schuster. We will see next season.

Quique Sanchez Flores laid the foundations at Getafe that Schuster built on. Yes Otto Schuster did well there, but he inherited the foundations that Flores laid and Laudrup in turn inherited those from Schuster. Remind us of the great success he had at Levante Otto.

Koeman is a disaster for Valencia and winining the Copa de Rey should not save him.
