captaining Germany to a resounding Euro 2008 triumph,

will he finally become World Player of the Year Question

the German giant has already dragged Chelsea back into contention in the EPL and the CL and is now favourite to become Player of Euro 2008 (main competitor is Gomez)

would the triple be enough to sway the clearly anti-Germans/Bundesliga fans and experts out there Question

    it WILL happen

    and

    you heard it here first

    <Ale>

    ah

    and

    f@ck OFF C. Ronaldo

    choker of the century

    <Ale>

we Germans cannot stand four kinds of players

    a) the ones with gel in their hair and studs in their ears

    b) the ones who cannot perform in big games

    c) the ones who cannot score from the penalty spot

    d) the ones who cannot dive convincingly

    and second question

who is now the best HEADER OF A BALL IN THE WORLD ?

    a) Ballack

    b) Klose

    c) Kuranyi (just scored another one against HSV)

    d) Gomez

    ????

    answers on a post-card

the Poles tried the best they could to destoy our Luftwaffe in WW2 (in English planes)

it seems the German Luftwaffe is pretty much alive and kicking though

the only country that could bring it down is Deutschland

    and frankly

why would we surrender our aerial superiority voluntarily by turning against each other ?

    oh wait

we DID under Klinsi against the ARgies

but Klinsi is gone and will now make the BUndesliga exciting again by destroying Bayern's airforce

    you heard it here first

They played 'well' against united because united knew they only needed a point so just defended for 45 minutes.

During those 45 minutes of chelsea dominance nobody could tell ballack was on the pitch until he popped up with that header. In fact could any chelsea attackers be merited with having a good game ? Wink

He scored a pen and got a header. On the basis that I criticise ronaldo for just scoring and doing very little else I'll have to apply the same principle to ballsack

It was a great game because of the drama, not because of good football frank Wink

Nonsense COTR. I watched the match also, and strongly disagree with that. Ballack contributed a lot more than just goals.

It was a very good team effort by Chelsea, they clicked and played some really good football. Ballack made the difference by scoring a goal, and keeping a cool head in a decisive situation at the end.

Why is it so hard for certain people on this board to give credit where credit is due?

If Chelsea do win one of the two titles, and then Germany have success in Austria/Switzerland with him getting a few goals, I certainly hope that he's up there for the nominations. Class player who has never quite reached that level where he's in everyone's minds as a top top player. Unfortunately I can still see the voting being skewed towards the more glamourous name in Ronaldo, though to be fair he has indeed been very impressive.

Heaven forbid I stick up for ronaldo, but if you think it is being skewed over ronaldo's more glamourous name than ballack then that is truly ridiculous

Ballack has had a slightly above average season for chelsea. Unless he does a kaka and dominates the rest of the CL, then does a zidane and dominates the euros he doesn't deserve to even be in contention for the year he has had.

If you let postings of others influence your own behaviour that much, it's pitiful.

otto seems to bring up 'the best' in people. By being a pretty successful WUM, he unmasks all the resentments, stereotypes and idiocies quite a few people seem to have, and makes them look absolutely pathetic and dumb, as can be seen in the English football section for instance.

The most amazing thing is that otto still seems to be able to achieve that. I would either laugh and don't take him seriously at all, or be bored these days. But his over-the-top praise for anything 'German' seems to be so unacceptable that some still lose control completely.

The majority just go along with it and point out the rather large holes in his arguments - lets not forget even some of you Germans manage to get irate with some of the things he says, or at least have a verbal duel or two.

Certainly though, nobody has to say or give much credit to any German players on here, because Otto singlehandedly does that job for us twenty times over Ale

otto gives 'credit' (or rather hypes) to those German players / individuals he likes, but you islanders probably can't see those nuances. Ale

I never said that it's wrong to point out the holes in his arguments, or make fun of him. I just said that he still often achieves what he (probably) wants, and that's quite an accomplishment. Or not, since ze German card always works.

Arnaud is only impressive because of the briefness of his appearances.

He's like the badly behaved uncle who only appears at family weddings and baby christenings with the sole intention of pulling his pants down and stirring things up.

Funny for about 5 minutes, but purely irritating after that.

I agree that Ballack should take penalties.

But free kicks? Drogba is dynamite at free kicks. Even Carvahlo was pushing the big German out the way on Saturday. And Drogba proved it with a finely struck effort.

I do wonder what the whole fracas afterwards was about. Is Ballack not liked ion the dressing room? who knows.

And by the way, how would winning the CL and ECL prove Lampard wrong? Have I missed something?
