All you anti-Scholes lot are f*cking idiots -

the guy has no legs left, that much is true. Not suprising since he is 34.

But at his peak he was an awesome player. Its hilarious to hear people saying how important good ball possession and passing is, especially when criticising the likes of Lampard and Gerrard, and in the next same breath not even registering this immaculate part of Scholes' game.

What does he contribute?! Good lord, only about 10 premierships titles, countless FA cups, a European Cup (he did play in the games up to the final) etc

Get a fucking grip - Scholes is a legend Ale

Parks lives wrote:If you can't understand or see what Scholes contributes then you have a problem understanding football. He can pass the ball as well as virtually any midfielder, he controls the tempo of a team as well as virtually any midfielder and to top that off at his best he had a goal scoring ratio most forwards would be happy with.

Why do you think he's been central to one of the best teams in Europe over the last 10 - 12 years.

This highlights exactly my problem with scholes and manu.

Right now manu is in the top 5 teams in europe, but for the last 10-12 years?? Even in 1999 when you won it you weren't anywhere near the best team in europe. You were the best team in the 4th best league in Europe. It is like deisler claiming bayern to be one of the best teams in europe, while they are actually the best team in 4th best league in europe.

And that's without mentioning the djemba djemba, kleberson period.

    More garbage.

    1997 - semi finalists
    1998 - quarter finalists
    1999 - winners
    2000 - quarter finalists
    2001 - quarter finalists
    2002 - semi finalists
    2003 - quarter finalists
    2004 - first round
    2005 - first round
    2006 - group stage
    2007 - semi finalists
    2008 - final

Take out those 3 years 2003/2004 - 2005/2006 and thats consistently in the quarter finals every year for the last 12 seasons, 3 times in the semis, two in the finals, 1 as winners.

That would still put us at the very least always in the top 8 teams in Europe, most of the times alot higher.

so what liverpools record in the last 3-4 years then? and does that make them the number 1 team in europe over these years?

No because they can only produce in the cups.

We were regularly champions of England, whilst also reaching the last 8 or further in Europe = one of the best teams in Europe.

    To which Scholes was central.

I'm thinking when you say one of the best teams in europe you're saying top 5?

being champions of the 4th best league in the world just about gets you in the top 10

let's do it for bayern right now:
all 4 in the EPL are stronger
top 2 at least in spain
    top 3 in italy

so that's 9 places already gone, and for the 10th spot they are competing with porto, valencia, fiorentina etc.

we didn't have the coverage of football as we do now, but I'd bet in 1999 that the top 3 leagues had at least 2 or 3 teams each better than manu and leagues such germany, france, holland, portugal etc all had teams as strong.

This is why I say right now they are one of the best as they are the best in one of the best leagues, but not for the last 12 years.

Regarding Scholes i think its a bit unfair to go after him now. even Man utd fans have been saying that he isnt what he used to be. last night he made a great goal but didnt do much else that is true but last season he played quite whenever i saw him. he has moved down the field now but still has a good football brain. the problem is he is getting old so people always use this time to say he is overrated.
i heard the same from Madrid fans i know about Zidane. they made the point that since he went down in his last year or two he was very overrated etc. players should retire on the top of their game.

    Clubs:

    3.) Schalke 04
4.) Hertha BSC (comedy club that costs us too many points in Europe)
    5.) Wolfsburg (plastic club)
6.) Hoffenheim (plastic club, payrolled by a billionaire)
7.) Rangers and other clubs that play anti-football in Europe

Quite a few other clubs I don't have any sympathies for because of the style of football they play, but unless they are big, you can't really blame them for it (e.g. a club like Cottbus).

    Players (still active):

    1.) Van Bommel
    2.) Poulsen
    3.) Christiano Ronaldo
    4.) Roberto Carlos
    5.) Totti

5.) Any 'big' footballing nation that plays destructive, cynical $h!t-on-the-stick football (can't blame the 'small' ones)

Honorable mention: Brazil, because everything about them is hyped to high heavens, by the European media in particular. Can't really blame them for it though.

That is what i thought aswell. i think he was just as important as ronaldo though. Man utd had been in a slump in central for a couple of years and they really needed him and he delivered. to be honest i thought he was done for so it was great surprise to see him come back in somewhat different role.

The 3 Clubs/Teams that you dislike the most
    1. Universitario de Deportes (big time rivalry)
    2. Any Chilean team playing a Peruvian (a rivalry thingy).
    3. CONMEBOL's lapdog clubs (shameful ref bias)

The 3 players that you dislike the most
    1. Universitario players
    2. Chilean players playing against Perú clubs
    3. c**t players from CONMEBOL's lapdog clubs who know they're getting the ref's calls, and start diving in the box to get penalties.

The 3 people connected to football (non-players) that you dislike the most
    1. Nicolás Delfino (lawyer who killed Peruvian football when he entered the FPF in mid 80's)
    2. Manuel Burga, Delfino's protégé who has killed everything related to Peruvian football.
    3. Blatter, for protecting the two fuckos above.

Isn't that a given?`Holland is still by far the fiercest rival of Germany on the international stage (Fey's list is a joke, and he knows it - no way Portugal are bigger rival for you than us), but you are falling behind! No important, controversial match for ages, same as England really, Italy and Argentina could replace you in future if it continues like this! Would be a tragedy!

why? If they enjoy playing, keep going. I'd rather watch Zidane now, even if he's 50% what he was at his prime, than most players

It's nice for the romance/mystique of a player & their legacy to bow out at the top - but I've got plenty of time for players who love the game and want to carry on, especially if they're willing to drop down a level or two. It's a shame in some ways that the players can earn so much in their years at the top (or by moving into tv studios) that they are less likely to carry on into the lower leagues.

Germany needs a 21st century Matthäus. You talked about Ballack leadership, Matthäus was one fine leader, this is not my view but Der Kaiser’s and you can never argue with anything he says, should actually be against the law.

Ballack definitely is not a leader like Matthäus was, no one is, with the exception of der Kaiser. This is not even a contest.

lol! You mean you don't like any of the 'big 4' from the EPL because they don't play against you straight up toe to toe like Madrid do! lol! <Ale>
The Real players do because they have to. its the fear of having to get backlash from being a pussy against your greatest rival.

    Dear or dear.

No I actually know something about football. You are just a gloryhuntinog londoner who provides armchair support for the team most successful during your puberty. Basically it was something for you to do in between wanking. You'd be a liverpool supporter if you were older, and a chelsea supporter if you were younger. That's your life.

i heard the same from Madrid fans i know about Zidane. they made the point that since he went down in his last year or two he was very overrated etc. players should retire on the top of their game.

He was one of our best players though last season. Probably second after Ronaldo.
That is what i thought aswell. i think he was just as important as ronaldo though. Man utd had been in a slump in central for a couple of years and they really needed him and he delivered. to be honest i thought he was done for so it was great surprise to see him come back in somewhat different role.

he was good but he had half a season off the year before with an eye injury so was quite fresh and able to train etc. Even so last season the manu fans were still going on about rio, evra, and rooney. They should decide who is their 2nd best player and stick to it, not just change every time there's a new discussion, eg who's the best left back in the world? manu response: evra he's been our best player after cronaldo. Who the best defender in the world: manu response: rio, he's been our best player after cronaldo etc.
