Incorrect - though Giggs is the key player, so he'll obviously be missed. Without Gabbidon though... they're a joke.

I'm going to have to disagree - I think Scotland are far better than Wales, at least since Smith took over.

Wales, incidentally, are holding the Czech's 0-0 at half time and have had easily the best of the play the last 15 minutes. Nice pace to the game aswell. Giggs and Bellamy are a constant threat.

There's no way Wales are better than Scotland now. Where did this come from? Since Smith took over Scotland have improved greatly. Wales have no depth to their squad. Scotland have lots of young talent coming through finally.

scotland will be very dangerous in their group... hartley, mc'fadden, boyd and miller all very exciting players to add to all the other solid players fletcher, ferguson, quashie, mc cann, mc cullough etc... scotland could be a surprise package

Why have the scots improved so greatly under smith exactly - I don't keep up with scottish football, but hasn't he just beaten Bulgaria B and the Faroe's comprehensively - is that all?

Wales just lost a game they should have won away to the Czech's. Now personally, I find that just as impressive as humiliating the Faroe Islands.

The Scots still don't have any players that come close to the quality of Bellamy and Giggs (and arguably Gabbidon), regardless.

Being part Scot, I'm happy with the change of fortune, and I believe Scotland are second to England now. I'm not much of a Walter Smith fan however, as he shows too much Old Firm & English bias when picking his players. He doesn't blood in enough youngsters either (and there are some talented youngsters in Scottish football).

If I had my way, the likes of Quashie, Weir, Pressley, Daily, Ferguson, Mcullouch, Teale, wouldn't be in the side. Not a huge fan of Miller either, but he probably merits his place in the squad.

If Ireland are included, I'd say it would be pretty tight. But to be honest, any of the home nations are capable of beating each other (as NI showed against England) though there's no doubting England are better than the rest.

People that don't follow Scottish football don't realise that there is a lot of young talent. Maloney, Burke, Brown, Thompson, Naismith etc are all very talented players. To be honest I wouldn't put the likes of Maloney & Burke too far behind Bellamy.

Do we really need such a thread?

It's more or less obvious where each of the British teams stand in the rankings.

Between Scotland and Wales it would be very close.

Thought both from what I saw (a half each) played very well today.

Scotland may edge a game, mainly due to there midfield which works very well - Quashie, Ferguson and Fletcher.

Wales do have better individuals though in Giggs and Bellamy.

Isn't Diamond a defender? I haven't seen/heard much of him to be honest. I think he plays for Aberdeen.

Boyd is a goal scoring machine, he offers little else other than that though. He's like an Inzaghi. Though I do like him, and would have him in the team. McGeady should really be playing for Scotland, but no matter, as Maloney and Burke/Brown play similar positions.

Don't know about that. If you ask most people who the top young talents are, most people would say Maloney, Brown, Thompson, Burke & Naismith. Though CB's never get the acclaim I guess.

Fletcher who made the UEFA U19's team of the tournament is a very good prospect as well. But until Walter Smith shows some ambition and starts blooding them in, their 'potential' is rather pointless. Today was the perfect op to try some of them, but he bottled it.

    Gordon>Robinson as well.
