Arsene Wenger has a short memoryJigaboo wrote:Arsenal poached him for nothing due to him not having a pro contract with Marseille, so they shouldn't be complaining and bitching and saying 'it's all about the money'.
It isn't all about the money. Arsenal fucked him over year after year, and after his breakthrough season the year they got to the CL final they dropped him again, giving the captain's armband to his most direct positional rival (Gilberto). They could have signed him up to a new contract last summer but didn't. As such, Wenger made a massive error in judgement, didn't realise how good a player he had on his hands (even if he never repeats the form of this season) and has lost out on a potentially 10M+ transfer fee.
So much for him being a wonderful judge of a player, and a master of the transfer market.
Flamini's gone for more money, better weather, the chance to play in a new league and the possibility of actually being treated with some respect. Arsenal only have themselves to blame.

Here's an interesting article about Flamini
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger worries that his 30-goal hitman Emmanuel Adebayor could let his high-standards slide next term if he doesn't continue to work hard.
Former Gunner Thierry Henry hit the 30-goal barrier five seasons in a row from the 2001/02 season onwards and the Frenchman left Highbury a legend.
Adebayor has begun to write a new chapter in the fresh history books of the Emirates, but Wenger fears the Togolese still has a long way to go.
"Emmanuel took his tally to 30 for the season with a hat-trick at Derby, but there is some room for him to improve - and that makes me very positive," said Wenger.
"I believe he has to keep a good working attitude.
"We have seen players before, when they start getting the recognition, they ease off in their team work, and very quickly they die.
"I believe if Ade keeps his work ethic there is still 20 per cent more to come from him. Does he want it enough - to get this extra 20 per cent out? Well that is where his future lies. If you lose that desire, you quickly become a nobody.
"You will never starve as a striker at Arsenal - you get the quality balls to work with. Ade will be the first to agree with that."
Adebayor's indifferent form during the season run-in caused the Gunners' title bid to dissolve - or vice-versa - but Wenger isn't overly concerned and predicts more from his team in the future.
"I believe our quality of the season overall has been absolutely outstanding, but because we have ended up without any trophies, people are naturally very negative," he admitted.
"We have to take a distance from that, and say that we have produced quality and we have produced consistency.
"We know we need to improve our killer instinct, but keep believing in this team because it is very special."
