Austria V Germany
Just out of interest, what kind of terms are the nations on, they play eachother in their last respective group games and i was wondering will Germany go easy on them if they have already qualified?

Re: Austria V Germany
we have the infamous Germany vs Austria of 1982 where both countries merely needed a 0-0 to progress at the expense of the excellent Algerians (I think)
blut is ashamed of this DEAL to this day
ie
it won't happen again
having said that we Germans like the Austrians and the Austrians hate us Germans (big brother thing)
what 1966 is to the English and 1974 is to the Dutch, 1978 is to the Austrians
in fact, in a cracker of a game they managed to eliminate World Champs Germany in the World Cup
TO THIS DAY , Austrians rest on those laurels
just like England and 1966
Loew wants us to set a marker though
ie
we would eat them Austrians alive no matter what the consequences
just like Italians

Let me put it like that:
When we played them in the friendly a while ago, we were bad. In fact, 'bad' doesn't even cover it. We were horrible. Still we bet them 3-0.
So, even IF we went easy on them, it wouldn't exactly help them.

Ok Cheers Otto, so basically you will kick ass even if you've qualified.

I think Germany needed to win actually but not by 3(?) or more goals or that would eliminate Austria - Horst Hrubesch(?) scored early and they both shut up shop to oust t'Sandniggers.
Confounded.

Re: Austria V Germany
*sigh*
1982 was a disgrace, end off.
This said, the Schluchtenscheisser are an ungrateful bunch, and still hate our guts. For them, the main goal of Euro 2008 is not to advance to the 1/4 finals, but beat Germany in the last group match. We are their greatest 'rivals'.
So much about 'Germany is playing at home'.

Re: Austria V Germany
With the terrible set up for the Euro's I would always "give the game away..."! I'd rather have Austria in the semis than Croatia... But then they are both not good enough to reach the semis... So at the end of the day it doesn't matter at all....
However, In the Dutch circumstance.... If the Dutch were in the position of Germany.... (I SAID "IF".... before Ze Germans accuse ME for being tad arrogant) I would give Romania a free way to the quarters....I put Timmer in the goal and Mathijsen in defence so we easily lose with 3-0....
This duo even managed it to concede 3 goals in 20 minutes against AUSTRIA....

Fey, the Anschluss didn't work, get over it already. We (= northern Germans aka Fischköppe) have more in common with you (= Kaas) culturally than with the Schluchtenscheisser (= Austrians). It may be different for Bavarians, but Bavaria is Nordost-Österreich (northeast-Austria) anyway...

Fair enough the may say Grüss Got instead of Guten tag..but that doesnt change the fact that you look awfully similiar to eachother. And with the results of the past, im sure Austria would bend over to get full internal inspection from die Mannschaft!

But Blut... the Bourgondic smoothy Catholic Brabant or Limburg culture is extremely different from the "nukkige" Groningers in the North.... What part of the Netherlands you mean with "kaaskoppen"..?

Re: Austria V Germany
Limburg = Bavaria, that's why Van Bommel is so happy at Bayern...
But 'Kaaskopp' is non-discriminatory, it includes everyone...
@Fey
You simply can not have been here, if you really think that we are similar to them. The language, ok, although even I have a hard time understanding some of their more drastic dialects. But culturally, we are worlds apart. There is a reason why Prussia and those funny people below the 'Weißwurstäquator' ('white sausage equatorial line') fought against each other for so long...
Austria will do everything to beat us. It's not their quality I fear, but their tacklings. Hopefully, we'll be qualified by then, so we can field a B-team. Don't want to see half of our squad injured in the knock out matches...

Re: Austria V Germany
Aachen is 'Rheinland'. One of the oldest German cities, quite beautiful actually. Rheinländer are more open, more joyful people than Northerners, hence the carnival tradition there. Northeners are more reserved, you could even say 'cold'.
But just because the Rheinland is predominantly catholic, you can't really compare them to Bavarians or Austrians even, for example. Religion is not the only criteria.
This country was divided for thousands of years, it's a very young country, and the differences are still very visible.

Re: Austria V Germany
Blut..A German is for me a guy that speaks German or something that sounds like it (Twente, Limburg, etc)
Look im sure the Austrians will try to make it look like they want to beat you but then in the halftime. The Germans promise the Austrians parts of hungary and italy again! They even promise them to revive kaiserin Sissi! So in the second half the Austrians..bend over..they even lubricate their valley for the Germans!!!

Limburg and Rheinland look similar although I don't think Limburgers are very open... They look open, warm and Freundlich but they are also very closed...
Groningen, Drenthe, Overijsel are also very cold and reserved and they have much more in common with you Northerners than with Limburgers...

I have never met a 'warm und freundlich' Dutchie in my life. Maybe I should visit Limburg one day indeed...
But Van Bommel is not exactly the best representative they could have chosen...

I said, at first sight they look very friendly....but they also produced.... Stevens, van Bommel, Anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders....
Brabanders are overall nicer. They are not as frustrated as Limburgers about the west (Holland). They are most of the times friendly and relaxed and they enjoy a quality of life. They are not as rude as Hollanders. Hollanders usually forget about enjoying life they are stressed and rude. Brabant is almost as productive as Holland but they also enjoy life
