Do you miss England?
at the upcoming EC. Do they add anything that is not in Austria and Switzerland in a couple of days? What about PGD? the hype? the fans?

I won't miss their football, but it's a pity that they are not there, especially for this board.

Re: Do you miss England?
I would miss English fans if I was going to be in Austria/Switzerland because they always travel in huge numbers and cause a great atmosphere. But since I'm most probably not able to go, I don't really care.

I wasn't around when it happened, so I can't really comment on that. Still, I always wanted them to qualify, for the reasons discussed.
Generally speaking, I always want our 'rivals' to qualify for the major tournaments, because it's less fun without them.

Tbh...the worst thing about England not being in it here...is the general atmosphere in the country. Usually by now...everywhere would be advertising it...everyone would have flags out/be talking about it. The whole place is amazing during International tournaments. Now the majority don't give a $h!t...and Euro 2008 will be a nothing event here.

Re: Do you miss England?
I already miss England... I miss their patriotism... I miss their hope... their fans...their jokes....
Nowadays the patriot Englishman tries to stay cool by saying Champions League is more important than Euro 2008.... We continentals all know they try to give their grief a place in the hearts....
But most of all I miss British style football!
Latin vs British football is a guarantee for spectacular games

Re: Do you miss England?
HUGE relief that England are not there
it's a pity for this board , but it's good for football
+
it's impossible to measure my fed-up-ness with English football hype
EVERYTHING that the BBC, Times and Co say in terms of pro-England hype just gets translated in Asia and the USA
thank God it's over
just watch CNN
their football division is run by Englanders and it's simply preposterous
they presented ManU vs Chelsea as an all-English affair, endlessly stressing the number of Englanders on the pitch
AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN
laughable
when Chelsea sacked Grant, they had it CONSTANTLY under BREAKING NEWS at the bottom
as the only item for a few hours
as if 300.000 people had died in an earthquake in Costa Rica
should England play against Scotland during the Euro FINAL , the first news item will be about the British game
thank God the worst is over
and thank God, England under Capello will probably not make the next World Cup either

IT
it
true
what
you
say
otto!!!
No seriously, they are always very hyped..but you know..it was funny for this board if they were qualified.
I think as well they will have a hard time in qualifying for the WC. But im sure it will work out fine for them this time.

It is amazing - I don't know about everywhere else in the country, but around here being in the world cup or European championship just makes everyone happier. Everyone flies the flags on their houses, on their cars, in the schools...everywhere.

Not round here either but it still winds me up..there was something in the paper the other day about some bloke who had an England flag in his back window of his car..police pulled him over and made him take it down or he'd have got a £30 fine...

What was the reason for the fine? what was the reason for offending people?
A FURIOUS driver was ordered by police to remove an England flag from his car “in case it upset immigrants”.
Traffic police told Ben Smith that he faced a £30 fine if he refused.
They found nothing wrong with his 2003 Vauxhall Corsa but spotted a St George flag on his parcel shelf.
Ben, an 18-year-old upholsterer from Melksham, Wilts, said: “It is quite incredible. He checked everything and said all was in order until he saw the St George’s flag.
“He then said I was racist towards the immigrants in our country. I laughed because I thought he was having a joke.
“Then he said he was serious and would give me a £30 fine unless I took it down at once. All I was doing was supporting my country.”
Ben says the flag was not obscuring his vision.
Laura Midgley of the Campaign Against Political Correctness said: “This is a national flag and it’s in his car – what’s the problem?
“Haven’t the police got better things to do than faff around with this nonsense?
Haven’t the police got better things to do than faff around with this nonsense Laura Midgley of the Campaign Against Political Correctness
“Would they have done the same if it was a Jamaican or Polish flag for example? I doubt it.
“We have become obsessed and lost the plot over trying to be politically correct.
“It’s crackers and utterly unhelpful for race relations and the exact behaviour that causes problems in the first place. I have never heard an immigrant say they are offended by the Cross of St George.”
Ben added: “I just want people to realise how silly the police are getting.”
Wiltshire Police defended their actions yesterday.
Chief Inspector Charlie Dibble said: “Having looked into this matter we have no reason to believe that this was anything other than a road safety matter.
“Officers are encouraged to take positive action in this regard and this would apply if it was any object obscuring the driver’s view.”

Re: Do you miss England?
when I was at Sixth Form during WC06...I wasn't allowed my Italy/England flag wrapped around my waist. However...others were allowed Ghana flags and Albania flags (for no reason). Schools were just being c**ts...But the amount of England flags that were around here, they'd never have managed to get everyone to take them down.

I don't see your point. England players get paid a $h!t load by the FA and are promised massive bonuses for winning, they aren't doing it out of the kindness of their heart.

Well you can't buy a player like Essien, Ballack or Torres and make him play for the NT. It's all about how good the football players from a country are.
And what you said kind of proves my point.

I spend the season despising Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Crouch, Neville etc etc. Then when an international comes around i'm supposed to be their biggest fan? I'm not interested in supporting these people. I'm a club over country person, always have been always will be. Supporting the national team in England is a very southern thing, they love it down there.

Not bullshit at all. I think if they national stadium was built in the midlands like many people thought it should have been there may be a different attitude, when it was built in London it was a bit of a kick in the face for England fans around the country. It does seem like a very southern set up, fat cockneys sat in soho square. I wonder how cockney fans would feel if everything to do with England revolved around the north. This isn't just my views, i've heard this alot.

I guess I'm more old fashion and support a club or country and not some players. But that's just me. And if Terry or Lampard would came to Newcastle you wouldn't support Newcastle anymore?
