In terms of joy watching them play?
I'm sure nobody will like to know how they are managing in some shit leagues....
I basically stopped watching NBA after Jordan's retirement.
    Zidane retired
    Beckham to USA
Fgo to Al Ihidad or something
    Ronaldo will probably follow him
    Vieri almost retired
    Rivaldo as well

    previously

    Batistuta
    Romario
    Baggio
    Cantona
    Bergkamp
    etc...

I miss Zizou, one of the greatest geniuses at work with a ball at his feet.

Figo i will miss him, him moving to Saudi is just for the money Grr Pity, he will ruin his career and go out via the back door, rather than how he deserves to.

The only player who had this kinda impact on me, that I would watch him in whatever team/league he went to was Roberto Baggio... a player who united all Serie A fans, irfrespective of clubs... because of baggio:

    - there was a time I used to enjoy and look forward to watching Milan/Juve games, and used to hope they score (via Baggio, of courtse)!!

    - thats the only reason that I used to watch as many Bologna/Brescia games as I could during the period he played for them...

    - started hating Lippi coz he kept Baggio at the Inter bench... what a waste!

Zidane wasn't up scratch for the last couple of seasons anyway though. The odd flash of brilliance would not tempt me to watch a match that otherwise had nothing on it. Ronaldo, Figo likewise. Beckham was never good enough to make me watch anyway.

Bergkamp's the one who springs to mind as a recent retiree.

Still always worth watching when he can produce the odd peice of magic, like his hatrick last season or some of his wonder goals.

Might feel the same about Zanetti, but then El Capitano will never play for any other club... he is our symbol, he is the son of Inter.

Yeh, I agree with that, I miss a lot of the players pre-galactico era strangely, players like Redondo for sure and Hierro (class!). Some of the players about like Zizou, Figo, Bergkamp are only recently retired/left so not long enough for me to miss them.

Bergkamp, Romario, Zidane, Baggio... perhaps Van Basten (as striker) and a young Ronaldo.
These were some of the best players of the past 20 years.

    EDIT: and Maradona!!!
