one more like that and Wenger would have benched him FOR GOOD
puts the Lehmann hatred into perspective , me thinks

Not in Schmeichel's time, not in Buffon's time, and certainly not with Gomes, J.Cesar & Casillas around.
He's on the same level with Cech, and barring those 2 disastrous games at Old Trafford and Goodison Park in the last 2 seasons, Reina is the best EPL 'keeper.
If thats true i feel for the EPL.Giovani Dos Spurs wrote:Van Der Saar is very good, but he's never been the best in the World.

Lehmann, whilst he should've never been dropped for an average no.2 like Almunia, is over the hill and far away. Germany have plenty of good young keepers to choose from, both he and Kahn (plus their giant egos ) should've been cast aside after WC2006.

Keepers aren't perfect, and never will be. To make mistakes is human, and Cech showed that yesterday, he's no super human goalkeeer, even when he was playing out of his skull (HA HA HA) he still had flaws.

Untill then Cech had really dominated the area having control of pretty much all crosses. but that is easily forgotten for many.

He won Man u the Charity shield, he won points for Man U in the League, He won them this year the Champions League, He hardly made ONE mistake in the Dutch team overall, at the Euro's he won the Dutch at least the game against France with excellent saves, Cassilas lokeed a bit dodgy at times for Spain (at least Vd Sar would have saved the last goal...)
Gomes is a superb goalie but he has his strange moments while VD Sar is always reliable (certainly in the Dutch team and also this year for Man U)
Buffon had a few dodgy moments already this tourney!
VD Saar is the best at this moment! simple as that!

Wow - he won a pre -season friendly.
Terry slipped and Anelka took possibly the shittest penalty in my living memory.
As a spurs fan, I know about the class of Gomes 1st hand. Buffon has kept his team in the tournament with the Mutu penalty save, and whilst Casillas let in a soft goal on Saturday, just ask the Madridstas where their club would be without him.
VDS flopped at Juventus, single-handedly ensuring that the £300mil Sven spent at Lazio wasn't a complete waste !!!
You ignore his dodgy moments for United so you can trash the likes of Ferdinand and Brown when you feel like it - TruFact

On form this season, he probably wouldn't make the top 10, though he missed a chunk of the season with injury, and was played despite being injured by Grant.
Shouldn't overlook his saves v Switzerland and - until the error - v Turkey.

At the time he played for Ajax he was by far the best in the world, no doubt! In the Oranje team he NEVER made a mistake (o well in his first game against Belarus but we forgive him that) For Man U he was a class act this year.
He made Rio look like a World class defender ..
At this Euro's he is ALSO by far the best goalie after two games....!

The Petr Cech up until Stephen Hunt was heading for Schmeichel like status. Now he'll have a Van Der Saar career. Very good, one of the best of his Generation, but not an all-time World Legend.

Only to people like you who overrate him.

Really ?!
His 1st 2 and a bit seasons, he was utterly dominant. I can only remember one error.

Playing behind a defensive team with 2 defensive midfielders, oh what a task. I bet David James wouldn't make many mistakes in those circumstances either.
