Well one good thing about this game is Modric getting what he jolly well deserved.

It wouldn't matter to Kimmy if he hadn't chosen Spurs over Newcastle.

It's not envy, i was never that bothered about him and am still not. It's the insult more than anything else.
I'm sure beaky will regret it when he is on the wrong end of Spurs bi-annual ass raping.

I somehow doubt it. Though 5 defeats on the trot is a bit much.

Is that 5 defeats now, or 5 defeats after next season? I forget what the tally is, for the streak has been going on for so long. I wonder what the goal tallies are.

Glad i didnt bet on this one anyway. even though i said Turkey would go through i would have lost since they drew the game.
so far 2 out of 4 of my predictions have been true. hear that LRD.
Glad turkey got through. at the same time im gonna hear alot of Cr@p from friends about it. right now the turks have the luck allthough they will be missing something like 3 players from this game alone on yellows plus Nihat might be injuried. and they already had several injuries for this game.they have done well so far and i dont think Germany are really huge favourites.

Re: Croatia Vs. Turkey
An amazing finish which more than made up for the rather boring and low quality match prior to that. Turkey's determination and mental strenght has really impressed me in this tournament, they really never give up (very Germany like), and have turned around three matches in a row. Yes, they were lucky also, but earned their luck. Congrats!
It's going to be one hell of a match on Wednesday, could compare it to a England - India match, if India were as football fanatic as Turkey that is (Turks = the biggest group of immigrants in Germany). This game is going to be huge over here, and I just hope that the fans will enjoy it peacefully together. But I'm optimistic, after seeing quite a few Turks supporting Germany in the last few days, and Germans rooting for the Turks so we could finally have this match many people would have liked to see happen for years. A semi-final against Turkey, a knock-out match against Turkey in a major tournament!
By no means should we underestimate them, and I really don't think that our team will. Turkey have quite a few talented players, and will be extra fired up against us, obviously, and they never give up. We just have to make sure that the 'inventors' of the 'never say die' approach prevail...

Thats for sure , the Turks are going mental already but I think this is a game we wanted to see as seeing the Turks support Germany and the Germans supporting Turks everyone wanted this to happen and this will be huge.Antarion wrote:Turks learned so much from Germany. Re: Croatia Vs. Turkey
How does one earn luck?
Actually blut, never mind. You're clearly on some sort of quasi-nationalistic bandwagon.
Let's face it - Turkey were $h!t, and got lucky yet again. Outplayed three games in a row, won all of them at the death. Sure, you can admire their 'never say die' attitude, but given that they don't do any real attacking until they are behind, I'd say this is a weakness rather than a strength. On another day, Croatia would have been 4-0 up after an hour (as they would have been had Olic been able to finish) and it would have been all over.
I'm gutted, because the better team, and the much cleaner team, has been beaten by some talentless, dirty, fouling chancers. Who aren't even European.

Re: Croatia Vs. Turkey
I think it was a huge shame last night, one of the most unjust matches I've seen. Croatia were very unfortunate not to be ahead by a couple by the end of normal time. And there was a most blatant foul in the build up to Turkey's goal - from the free kick Rustu lofted long, a Turkish player just dived straight into two Croatian defenders and took them out. The referee just bottled a decision - and this is besides the issue of Crotia failing to get their substitute on the pitch, besides the issue of whether any extra time should have been played.
I thought Turkey would make it out of the group stage, and they did so, but I'm only losing respect for their game despite the fact that they have some really talented players. They are very negative - their coach left out a number of strikers from the squad; in the game against the Czechs, they only came into it via two mistakes; last night their equalizing goal shouldn't have stood. And they're dirty in every way, fouling a lot and playing for free kicks.
The Croatians would have given Germany a game, and I wouldn't have considered either team favourites going into such a semi final. But, especially with all their suspensions, I think Turkey will be thrashed against Germany. I'm going for 5-0.

Hopefully people recognize that Turks has more injuries woes then any team in the competition and their goal keeper was suspended.
Can football be branded lucky , so you can get lucky in the Euros which is a cup competition and winning it as Greece did doesnt gives you greatness but winning another cup competition in CL however you do it isnt the same.

I don't feel *too* sympathetic for Croatia though...those two penalties that went wide of the goal were simply awful. No professional footballer should be hitting such penalties that have no height, direction, or pace on them.

But then.... Everyone knew before one penalty was taken Turkey were going to win it! They were so happy after 120 minutes while the croats were completely down....
Forza once mentioned a few weeks ago. Before the shoot out you mostly can see who is going to win it. This was another clear example of that statement!

Re: Croatia Vs. Turkey
I only saw the first half of the game, so dunno how it went after. But reading the results and seeing the highlights, I must add respect to Turkey.... they have stuck it out against a superior opponent, and again managed to come back from dead... thats 3 games in a row, and I have a lot of respect for that.
But like I said before the game, neither of these two sides stand a chance against Germany... specially Turkey.
We will have a better idea who Germany will face in the finals in the next 2 days.
