A lot of people will jump on the bandwagon but I've been saying how $h!t this boy is for quite a while now.

I first realised how $h!t he is when I saw him play a league game at Spartak Vladikavkaz in 2002.

He should be available for around £1.5m - maybe Stoke City can get him ?

Its not easy playing against Cesc ask double Champions league winner and world cup winning MVP Pirlo.

Pirlo certainly struggled at The Emirates (nice stadium name by the way - sums up what a soulful club you are) when Cesc was playing his calf after every pass.

I wonder why Cesc felt the need to do that ?

    Cesc has won nothing.

I aluded to this earlier before the match. People love building up players and them knocking them down. The people hyping up Arshavin (who is no doubt talented) are the same people who slag of Gomez are seeing so little of him, and are no doubt the same people who will now label Arshavin as overrated. I'm not necessarily refering to anyone on here btw

Such rash conclusions are ofcourse almost a matter of formality when people judge a player on 2-3 games. You see/hear it on 606 all the time.

I have been caught a bit in all this Arshavin thing but that was mostly because i understood that he was also playing quite well for St.Petersborg in the uefa cup. one bad game doesnt mean that he isnt a very good player which he seems like to me.

He didn't get the service he liked as much today, because Russia couldn't win the ball back off Spain's midfield. I think he would suit a more fast paced counter attacking team like Arsenal or Man U (just going by his performance today) than Barca. Perhaps.

I think Arshavin is a good player. I don't pretend to be able to qualify anything I say about him anyway, I just think it's amazing how people are so quick to big up/dismiss players on the basis of a game or two

As someone who has seen a lot of Villa, my opinion on him wouldn't have changed had he happened to have a poor tournament. But you can bet that same the BBC/ITV panelists blowing his trumpet, or saying he should be playing in the EPL, would be the same one's who would have dismissed him as a far inferior player to Torres for example

Lets not jump the gun, lots of players look better on the International stage, others look super at club level and flatter to decieve as these sort of tournaments, the question that has to be asked is how good has his club form been and particularly against better teams...

Hes a decent player, and if he played for a club with focus and has good players around him, he could be a decent buy - i don't see him though as a player who would be looked to first to make the difference if he played for one of the so called 'larger' european clubs though.

I love how the biggest knee jerk reaction clowns are suddenly on their high horse about any reaction to performances.......give me a break.

Arshavin suffered because now he was singled out as the danger man, now there was all the build up on him to do something, and a lot more pressure. Plus he had all the Barca rumours and of course that can effect you also. He could have simply had a bad game but more than likely those things contributed.

From what ive seen before from Zenit and a few Russia games he looks a very talented intelligent player. But he is not used to having the whole worlds eyes on him. He probably isnt as good as the likes of Nani, Anderson or Adam Johnson, but hes certainly in a higher league to your Iniesta's Simao's Quaresma's <Ale>

Well he's certainly performed better than Ronaldo in this tournament, but obviously the majority of people's opinion on Ronaldo here hasn't changed because this tournament (negative or positive). But I do think Arshavin/Gomez is a case in point of people jumping to rash conclusions. The same jouranalists/commentators that hyped Arshavin up, are now already suggesting he's a bottler when the pressure is on. It's laughable really

Ronaldo didn't have that bad a tournament did he?

Portugal's failings were the presence of Ricardo and Ferreira aided by a dodgy refing decision.

Sure he hasn't walked Portugal into the final but he was one of their best players in the games he played in.

Torres has had a bad tournament.

The TV journalists know f@ck all, especially the BBC ones. the ITV ones had at least seen Arshavin before this tournament I guess.

Well he was constantly billed as the 'BPITW' so yes, he was disappointing. He was outshone by Deco which I wasn't expecting at all. I'm not even sure he is a winger anymore, he rarely crosses, and I actually thought he was poor in each and every game until he moved to the middle.

Ronaldo, Gomez & Toni have disappointed me most, but only one of them was hyped to the 'win the tournament single-handed' level

Ronaldo played 3 games. He was MOTM in one. Played very well and help set up both goals in another......
And even in the poor game a goal came as a result of his shot.

How that compares to Gomez who did not do ANYTHING right i am not quite sure.

He was poor in each and every game until he moved into the middle? eh dude he moved into the middle in the second game, so that would be just one game.

Maybe he didn't cross because it's Portugal? Simao and Deco are not ones who thrive on crosses, it's more Ronaldo's job to get on the end of them given his height compared to the rest.....

The wacky neutral world of callidad.....
