Bolton have completed the capture of Sweden international Johan Elmander from Toulouse.

Elmander has signed a three-year contract and seals a deal Gary Megson has been looking to finalise for six months.

While no fee has been announced, it is estimated to be around the £10million mark, eclipsing the club record free Bolton paid Fenerbahce for Nicolas Anelka.

Megson is delighted to sign Elmander, who he expects to supply the goals to ensure Bolton are not dragged into a survival fight like last term.

Elmander, former league and cup winner in Denmark with Brondby, is remembered for netting a hat-trick in the decisive win over Bordeaux 12 months ago that earned Toulouse their place in the Champions League.

Daniel Braatan has gone the other way as part of the deal.

"Johan is a player I have admired for a long time," said Megson.

"He is a player who will get us goals and also create other opportunities for his team-mates."

Bit of a coup. He may struggle in the Premiership due to his lack of pace and cumbersome style, but I think it's a good signing for a team like Bolton.

We needed a striker, and not many good ones are going to want to come to sunny Bolton. Elmander, with this in mind, is a decent buy. He's been brilliant for Toulouse, although he went slightly off the pace at the back end of last season. If we can keep Diouf and sign a CREATIVE (yes, not Fabrice Muamba for 5 million pounds. What a fucking joke) CM, then we should be good to go.

I still think you need three/four more new players after that, but the squad should be more prepared than last season.

Muamba is a good player despite the fee, he did well at Birmingham considering it was his first season in the Premier League, he can only improve. I like the fact you are looking at young English players like you already have with Cahill.

£10m is a lot for a player who is, for the want of a better word, shite.

Whilst he is no Henry/ronaldo/Torres (no bad thing if you're a football fan) he isn't particularly slow.

Elmander up top on his own with Nolan in between him and 2 CM will be favourite.

Is there an echo in here?

After all, last summer I had thousands of screaming Arsenal fans telling me this was Van Persie's year, that he was already world class and could only get better.

And then he did f@ck all for a season and everyone started on the Adebayor bandwagon out of desperation.

10 million is a disgrace, and proves it isn't just English players who are vastly overpriced. He is a good player, as is Muamba, but 15 million for the pair?

The Bolton fans and the media will love him for this. Better to be big and cumbersome than small and wear a hairband in england anyday!
