Bolton tried to sign Helguera
Bolton agreed a deal with Real but the player turned down the move. I know they have signed Emerson and Diarra, but im suprised they would let him go. Thank god this deal didnt go through as i think he would have been a great buy.

Apparently Helguera has been shocking of alte though and Real Madrid have apparently been really keen to sell.

New season, new manager i just thought he might have been given a chance. If he is on the bench come January he might change his mind and go.

Re: Bolton tried to sign Helguera
What is bizarre is that Real were willing to let both Woody and Helguera leave - so not much centre back cover!
Just Pavon and Bravo

Yeah good point and with Gravesen and P. Garcia both leaving they are thin on defensive mids, Helguera offers great cover for both positions.

Re: Bolton tried to sign Helguera
Helguera has played crap for well over a year now. He's also public enemy number 1 for Madrid fans since he constantly whines whenever he isn't in the starting lineup. 6 months ago, he also claimed that he wouldn't mind playing for Barca in the future, during one of his many bitching sessions. The fans don't want him, Capello doesn't want him, and the club certainly don't want him since they gave his shirt number to Diarra .
And while we could have used one more central defender, I think we're OK in that department. Believe it or not, Raul Bravo is quite decent as CB (remember that he kept Henry quiet in Highburry last year as well as Etoó in the Camp Nou) and we also have Mejia. Mejia is inconsistent, but underrated by many since he's had many good games with the team. Pavon is indeed crap though, no argument there.
Regarding DMs, partly why both Gravesen and Pablo Garcia were sold was to give Javi Garcia a chance. If Emerson or Diarra were to get injured, Javi Garcia is expected to be given a few chances. We can also play Guti next to whatever DM gets injured. I would prefer that anyway, since it would add creativity to our midfield.

Not to mention, the humiliating 6-1 against Zaragosa, where at least 4 of the goals were his fault. I hope Capello doesn't even put him in the squad for all our games (including the Copa) for the next 6 months. He's sure to go in the January transfer window.

Oh well, would have been better than nothing.
He'd have been on the bench anywya.
