Levy is wealthy, but he doesn't have millions of pounds in a drawer.I think you're confusing him with Joe Lewis. Spurs money comes from him.

Tottenham had a £15m injection from their owners like 4 years ago or something, but everything else comes from the income of the club.
The club is run exceptionally well.

Can confirm that Lewis is top boss in the company that own Tottenham, and filthy rich, but he has not put any of his personal money into the club.

As if, you realise you've spent close to £100m in the last 12 months. Not even the top 4 can maintain that spending without a sugar daddy or going into debt. Either Jew Jewis is pumping money in or you're gambling big time on breaking into the CL.

Ticket prices as expensive as Chelsea and Arsenal's,
and one of the best kit sponsorship deals in the football world are big reasons behind our spending power.

The Champions League money the big clubs get havent been much of an issue for Tottenham as the top four have spent a minimum of £40M more than Tottenham on wages every year. Although I can imagine we're closing in on their wage levels all the time with the new signings.

Not sure how much we've spent lately in transfer fees, but can have a look at it later at "work" Smile

Oh, and just so people know, Berbatov played 45mins for us in a training game against some Spanish Part-timers yesterday.

    We won 8-0.

Dos Santos scored 2 goals in that 8-0.

He also scored a goal in our pre-season game against Inter last year, then didn't do much the rest of the season.

You have a small stadium though. We've all seen the deloitte rich lost and you're closer to us than you are the top 4.

I know how much you've spent on fees in the last 12-18 months.

    Bent - £16.5m
    Bale - £10m
    Kaboul - £8.2m
    Boateng - £5.5m
    Rocha - £3.3m
    Perrett - £2m
    Rose - £1m
    Alnick - £1m
    Modric - £16.5m
    Hutton - £9m
    Dos Santos - £8.6m
    Woodgate - £8m
    Gunter - £3m
    Gilberto - £2m
    Bostock - £1m
    Gomes - £7m

That's £102.6m since January 2007, and still there are rumours of £17m moves for Bentley, among others. How is that sustainable? scratch

    welcome cheers

I think Kimbo does have a point, spurs do seem to be splashing the cash, so it would be interesting to know where it is coming from. Arsenal for example have a bigger stadium and have CL money, Chelsea have abramovich etc. I don't see how spurs could be doing what they are doing on generated income alone.

    According to this

    http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/aktuell/GB1/2007/wechsel/2007/index.html

They've made money on Defoe (£6.5m) and Mido (£6m) last year, and the year before of course got the £18m for Carrick.

    So not many really.

    So not many really.

Defoe was sold for around £9.5million (£7.5m upfront). We also sold Davenport for £3.5 million to West Ham 18 months ago.

    ---------------------------------

Yes, because everyone knows we've paid all that money upfront Rolling Eyes

    Bostock cost £700k

We only paid 5mil for bale, and the Saints reduced the add-on fee because of their situation + The wanted one pf our young GK's

Boateng's fee was a million less than Kimmy says - Ditto Gomes (Lee is going the other way once the work permit issues get sorted.)

So far we've only £5mil for Bent (we're due to pay a 2nd £5million at the end of this month.

    Modric was £15.8 million.

We've only paid £4.7mil so far for Giovani.

    Kaboul was £7.5mil

Alnwick cost 400k (could become £900k) as we sent Martin Fulop the other way.

    Between Gilberto & Hutton, that's another £1mil.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Take around £40mil of Kimmy's total, i assure we haven't paid £65mil net so far.

I took my fee's from a Tottenham website. Whether they are paid in installments is irrelevant, that money is still commited else where. Oba Martins fee was £2m a year for 5 years, you don't see people claiming we've only spent £4m on him, because that money is committed. Installments just mean you will have less money in the coming years, what if you need to improve the squad next year, but you can't because you're still paying for all of last years signings?

If Spurs can maintain this spending without going into debt then they may aswell be one of the richest clubs in the world. Who needs worldwide fanbases and CL revenue eh?

Profit from operations before player trading and amortisation were lower at £9.9m (6 months ended 31 December 2006: £14.2m) principally as a result of one-off costs incurred in the period.

Anyway that tells me Spurs are spending more than they have coming in.

I was talking about Gomes' work permit, he's out training with us in Spain but can't be an official player until the Home Office says so.

Lee was one of the lowest paid 1st teamers at Spurs, and unlike many EPL clubs, we have a strict wage cap, it was said he was to be included in the deal. we'll see Ale

PSV also tried a season ago to lure him, but he they couldn't offer him more than half of what he was earning at the time...

The Eredivisie has a double handicap : nowhere near comparable cashflows to the EPL and also a higher tax rate.

Originally PSV tried to work him into the deal, but they stated they were no longer interested after they've bought Pieters for 3M (which makes a lot of sense).

The spending is a gamble, but not as much of a gamble as you might think. Most of our signings have decent transfer value in the future.

For instance Bent 15 million, but we can sell him for 9 million. If we are selling Berbatov, we are making a 15 million ponds profit. Ditto how it was done with Carrick.

Most of our signing have decent transfer value in the future. We are not buying players whom are in their 30s were by the transfer value drops considerably.

Point is, it's not "if we don't get a CL place, we are broke"....

    Rasiak £2.2m
    Lee YP £1.29m
    Routledge £1.5m
    Huddlestone £2.5m
    Lennon £0.8m
    total £19.79m

    Out -

    Pamarot £2m
    Atouba £1.7m
    Edman £1m (estimated)
    Davis £2m
    Mendes £3m
    Brown £0.5m (estimated)
    Kanoute £4.4m
    total £16.6m

    - £3.19m

    2006/07
    In -
    Alnwick £0.5m
    Rocha £3.5m
    Mido £4.5m
    Chimbonda £4m
    Malbranque £3.5m
    Dervite £1m (estimated)
    Zokora £6m
    Assou Ekotto £3.5m
    Berbatov £10.99m
    total 37.49m

    Out -
    Reid £3m
    Davenport £3m
    Carrick £18.6m
    Fulop £0.25m (estimated)
    total 24.85m

    -£12.64m

2007/08 the season we really spent
    In-
    Parrett £2m
    Gunter £2m
    Hutton £8m
    Woodgate £7.5m
    Boateng £5.2m
    Gilberto £1.9m
    Rose £1m

    Bale £7m
    Taarabt £3.5m
    Bent £16.5m
    total £63.05m

    Out-
    Mido £6.25m
    Routledge £1.25m
    Ziegler £0.5m (estimated)
    Defoe £9m
    total £17m

    -£46.05m

This gives a total of £61.88m spent on transfers over 3 seasons.
2008/09 season we've so far spent £28.65m, but look likely to recoup £41m on players we do not want to keep (Lee YP, Kaboul, Rocha, Gardner, Tainio and Stalteri) + the sale of Berbatov. Which means we will go in balance if Berbatov's replacement cost £12.35m. Looking at previous transfer seasons we can spend £32.35m to replace Berbatov and futher improve our squad this season if Berbatov indeed will be sold.

Everything i said was correct. Don't lump me in with the twisted geordie because you were proved wrong at the time.

    Thanking you son <Ale>

you were quoting a website called something like 'Rafa is a git' as your source for Liverpool's financial statistics.

But that wasnt far from the fact was it , we can look at the site again and discuss every transfer or player listed.

You think Spurs are bringing in enough money to bankroll that? lol!

My point was clearly about Spurs spending more than they're bringing in, rather than the exactly number Roger. Think about it. ok

You may say he inherited a weak squad then had to add players all around as even you would agree it has been revolving doors since he came , for eg couldnt he just keep someone like Guthrie for backup if you are going to keep 4-5 mids , ok Lucas has more talent then whats the point putting all those mids before him.

    we could

    but let's not.

There was a fairly in depth article which pretty much blew the whole website, it's agenda and it's 'facts' out of the water. It'll be in the Liverpool thread somewhere son Ale
